Small omphalocele with umbilical evagination of the bladder: a distinct entity?

A neonatal case of umbilical evagination of the bladder combined with a small omphalocele is presented. This rare congenital malformation has previously been described in only three cases. Umbilical evagination can be understood as a disturbance of development of both the vitelline and allantoic ducts, resulting in a non-descended but otherwise normal bladder opening to the inferior margin of a small omphalocele. Diagnosis is made by clinical inspection and ultrasound. Since other malformations are not present, this entity may be regarded as a minor form of a lower midline defect with excellent prognosis.

Protocol for Low-level laser therapy in traumatic ulcer after troncular anesthesia: Case report in pediatric dentistry

The aim of this study was to report a protocol of use for low-level laser therapy (LLLT) in traumatic ulcer in the lower lip after inferior alveolar nerve block anesthesia (IANBA). A 3-year-old patient, male, undergoing treatment of carious lesions was submitted to an indirect pulp capping in tooth 74 under IANBA. The procedure was completed without intercurrences, but on next day, the child presented extensive traumatic ulcer in the left lower lip, with complaint of pain. Two sequential applications with LLLT were applied in punctual mode under pressure around the lesion. After 1 week, the mother reported significant improvement. Sudden sensorineural hearing loss is a clinical condition characterized by a sudden onset of unilateral or bilateral hearing loss. In recent years sudden deafness has been frequently described in association with anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA) infarction generally presenting along with other brainstem and cerebellar signs such as ataxia, dysmetria and peripheral facial palsy. Ocular tilt reaction: a clinical sign of cerebellar infarctions?

Ocular tilt reaction (OTR) consists of head tilt, ocular torsion (OT), and skew deviation (SKD) combined with perceptual tilts such as deviations of the subjective visual vertical (SVV). Few case reports have shown that OTR also occurs in patients with cerebellar infarctions.1–4 However, no systematic clinical studies are available on the frequency of signs of OTR in patients with cerebellar lesions. Therefore, the questions arose as to whether OTR is a common clinical sign of an acute cerebellar lesion and whether the time course of its components is similar to those from brainstem infarctions. Portal vein thrombosis and Budd-Chiari syndrome as onset of polycythemia vera

Budd-Chiari syndrome may be defined as a heterogeneous group of vascular disorders characterized by obstruction of hepatic venous return to the level of hepatic venules, supra-hepatic veins, inferior vena cava or right atrium. The main cause of this syndrome is represented by myeloproliferative diseases and, in particular, by polycythemia vera. Budd-Chiari Syndrome: Spectrum of Imaging Findings

OBJECTIVE: The objective of our study was to illustrate the imaging findings of Budd-Chiari syndrome, including CT, MRI, sonographic, and angiographic findings. CONCLUSION: The key imaging findings in Budd-Chiari syndrome are occlusion of the hepatic veins, inferior vena cava, or both; caudate lobe enlargement; inhomogeneous liver enhancement; and the presence of intrahepatic collateral vessels and hypervascular nodules. Awareness of these findings is important for early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

The purpose of this phase III clinical trial was to compare two different extracellular contrast agents, 1.0 M gadobutrol and 0.5 M gadopentate dimeglumine, for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients with known or suspected focal renal lesions. Using a multicenter, single-blind, interindividual, randomized study design, both contrast agents were compared in a total of 471 patients regarding their diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity to correctly classify focal lesions of the kidney.
