A Cooperative Coevolution Framework for Parallel Learning to Rank

We propose CCRank, the first parallel framework for learning to rank based on evolutionary algorithms (EA), aiming to significantly improve learning efficiency while maintaining accuracy. CCRank is based on cooperative coevolution (CC), a divide-and-conquer framework that has demonstrated high promise in function optimization for problems with large search space and complex structures. Moreover, CC naturally allows parallelization of sub-solutions to the decomposed sub-problems, which can substantially boost learning efficiency. The tool is aimed at supporting the designer in designing new wastewater treatment plants as well as optimizing the performance of already available plants. Using the theory of interpersonal behavior to explain non-work-related personal use of the Internet at work

2013

Non-work-related personal use of the Internet within organizations has received increased attention from scholars. We increase previous understanding of this phenomenon by proposing a novel model based on the theory of interpersonal behavior (TIB). The TIB includes previous researched constructs (i.e., attitudes, social influence, and intentions) as well as emotional factors, habits, and different sources of social influence. Our results (N=238) suggest that the model well predicts the use of the Internet at work for non-work purposes. Our results shed new light on the influence of habit, affect, role, and self-concept in the use of the Internet.
