Modelling and Programming are often used together in system development. However, typically there is a large difference between the handling of modelling parts and the handling of programming parts. This leads to the fact that the transition between the two is not easy, and important information is lost as well as extra information has to be provided when combining modelling and programming. This paper shows how modelling and programming could work together in system development.

AbstractThe present article concentrates on the main discrepancies that should arise in the discussion between Lotman’s semiotics of culture and Laclau’s discursive theory of hegemony. Some significant – but still abstract – commonalities conceal fundamental disagreements which I would group around four topics. Firstly, Lotman’s semiotic method is at odds with Laclau’s ontological way of thinking. Secondly, although both Lotman and Laclau subscribe to the openness of signification, it is impossible to incorporate their accounts of this openness without loose ends. Semi-automated annotation of page-based documents within the Genre and Multimodality framework

This paper describes ongoing work on a tool developed for annotating document images for their multimodal features and compiling this information into a corpus. The tool leverages open source computer vision and natural language processing libraries to describe the content and structure of multimodal documents and to generate multiple layers of XML annotation. The paper introduces the annotation schema, describes the document processing pipeline and concludes with a brief description of future work.

To determine the difficulty of text, readability formulas can be used. The research was made to find readability formula for Latvian. Readability formulas for English were used as guidelines. The novelty was the use of eye movement tracking during reading to obtain quantitative data that lead to readability formula. Eye fixation durations were gathered during readability measurements. Average values of fixation durations were calculated to characterize texts and readers. 15 texts with various difficulty levels were composed for exposing them to readers. Magic informationally complete POVMs with permutations

Eigenstates of permutation gates are either stabilizer states (for gates in the Pauli group) or magic states, thus allowing universal quantum computation [M. Planat and Rukhsan-Ul-Haq, Preprint 1701.06443]. We show in this paper that a subset of such magic states, when acting on the generalized Pauli group, define (asymmetric) informationally complete POVMs. Such IC-POVMs, investigated in dimensions $2$ to $12$, exhibit simple finite geometries in their projector products and, for dimensions $4$ and $8$ and $9$, relate to two-qubit, three-qubit and two-qutrit contextuality.
