Analysis of Bias-Shift Effects in Free-Running and Injection-Locked Negative Resistance Oscillators

In this paper, the interaction between DC and RF in quasi-sinusoidal free-running and injection-locked oscillators is addressed. To account for and illustrate in a user-friendly manner the bias-shift related effects stemming from such interaction, a frequency-domain method of analysis has been developed for a rather wide class of negative-resistance circuits. Protection of rabbits against rabbit viral haemorrhagic disease with a vaccinia-RHDV recombinant virus

In order to protect domestic and wild rabbits against RVHD, we constructed a recombinant vaccinia-RHDV virus, using the Copenhagen strain of the vaccinia virus. This recombinant virus expressed the RHDV capsid protein (VP60). Analysis of the expressed product showed that the recombinant protein, which is 60 kDa in size, was antigenic as revealed by its reactions in immunoprecipitation and indirect immunofluorescence with the antibodies raised against RHDV. The recombinant virus induced high level of RHDV specific antibodies in rabbits following immunization. Inoculations by both the intradermal and oral routes allow protection of animals against a challenge with virulent RHDV.

A mathematical model of gaseous fuel solenoid injector for spark ignition engine has been realized and validated through experimental data. The gas injector was studied with particular reference to the complex needle motion during the opening and closing phases, which strongly affects the amount of fuel injected. Effect of diazoxide on left ventricular performance in hypertension.

The effect of diazoxide on left ventricular performance during rest and isometric exercise (handgrip) was examined in 16 unselected hypertensive patients, 6 of whom had been pretreated with the beta-adrenergic blocking agent pindolol. Diazoxide regularly and promptly produced a fall in left ventricular systolic and end diastolic pressures, and an increase in heart rate and left ventricular dp/dtmax. Haemodynamic changes were maximal 2 minutes after injection of the drug and decreased little over the next 8 minutes. Abstract A flow-injection (FI) spectrophotometric system is proposed for the determination of phenols and carbamates. In the FI manifolds, the solutions of phenols or carbamates (the latter after hydrolysis with NaOH) were injected into a diazonium ion carrier stream at pH 9.5 (buffered with tetrahydroborate), which was formed by mixing 2,4,6-trimethylaniline (TMA) with nitrate in a sodium dodecyl sulfate aqueous micellar medium. Immunological and biological identification of tumour necrosis-like factor in sponges: Endotoxin that mediates necrosis formation in xenografts

Xenografts of the sponge Geodia cydonium in its closely related species G. rovinjensis resulted in a rapid rejection of the graft within a period of 5 days. We identified an immunoreactive tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-like activity in the xenograft (Mr of 30,000) two days after grafting. In-vivo injection of 5 micrograms human recombinant TNF-alpha induced cytotoxicity in sponge cells in the same pattern and time course as during natural xenograft rejection. Anti-TNF-alpha polyclonals were found to react with xenograft extracts, by Western blot analysis, as from day 2 after grafting. The role of interleukin-2 (IL-2) on tumor growth of B16F10 melanoma cells was assessed in two sets of mice with different immune status: normal (immunocompetent) mice and immunodeficient mice. The two sets of animals were treated with cyclophosphamide (CY) or IL-2 alone or with a combined therapy of CY+IL-2. On days 6 and 10 after tumor cell injection, we evaluated the incidence of hepatic B16 melanoma metastases and the percentage of hepatic volume occupied by metastatic tissue.
