Predicting needlestick and sharps injuries in nursing students: Development of the SNNIP scale

2020

© 2020 The Authors. Nursing Open published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd. Aim: To develop an instrument to investigate knowledge and predictive factors of needlestick and sharps injuries (NSIs) in nursing students during clinical placements. Design: Instrument development and cross-sectional study for psychometric testing. Methods: A self-administered instrument including demographic data, injury epidemiology and predictive factors of NSIs was developed between October 2018–January 2019. Content validity was assessed by a panel of experts. The instrument's factor structure and discriminant validity were explored using principal components analysis. The STROBE guidelines were followed. Results: E…

Psychological Profile in Female Cyclists and Its Relationship with Age, Training Parameters, Sport Performance, and Injury Incidence.

2021

Previous studies have highlighted the importance of psychology on sports performance and its relationship with the incidence of sport injuries. The objectives of the present investigation were: (1) to analyze the psychological profile of female cyclists as a function of age, training parameters, sport performance, and injuries suffered and (2) to design a model to predict their psychological profile. Sixty-one female cyclists participated in the study. Differences were found as a function of a competitive category for team cohesion (F = 5.035

The finding, in the “Archivio di Stato” of Napoli, of the only surviving Justitiae register belonging to the “Cancelleria aragonese” serie ‘s (1453-1454), led to insight into the Calabria society thruough the analysis of the denunciations of crimes, such as: crimes against government, administration or people and sexuals crimes.

Mechanical Coupling Between Muscle-Tendon Units Reduces Peak Stresses

2017

The presence of mechanical linkages between synergistic muscles and their common tendons may distribute forces among the involved structures. We review studies, using humans and other animals, examining muscle and tendon interactions and discuss the hypothesis that connections between muscle bellies and within tendons may serve as a mechanism to distribute forces and mitigate peak stresses. peerReviewed

Dzelzceļa letālo traumu rašanās mehānismi un morfoloģija

2020

Learning Curve in Surgical Treatment of Odontoid Fixation for a Series of Type II C2 Fractures

2019

The craniovertebral junction (CVJ) is a complex anatomical area upon which most of the motion of the upper cervical spine depends [1]. Because of its unique range of motion, the CVJ is subject to several types of traumatic injury; it has been shown that odontoid fractures are the most common ones in the general population and are the most common isolated spinal fractures [2]. Accounting for up to 18% of all cervical fractures, odontoid fractures are the most common ones in elderly patients [3], in whom they account for up to 60% of spinal cord injuries [4].

Forensic tools for the diagnosis of electrocution death: Case study and literature review

2018

Diagnosis of death by electrocution may be difficult when electric marking is not visible or unclear. Accordingly, the body of a man who appeared to have died from accidental electrocution was carefully forensically analysed. Macroscopic and microscopic analysis of the current mark was carried out using a variable-pressure scanning electron microscope equipped with energy dispersive X-ray microanalyser to highlight skin metallisation, indicating the presence of iron and zinc. The histological findings of electrocution myocardial damage were supported by the results of biochemical analysis which demonstrated the creatine kinase-MB and cardiac troponin I elevation. The effects of electric cu…

Association of oral lichen planus with hepatic disorders and hepatocellular carcinoma:systematic review and meta-analysis

2023

Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a prevalent autoimmune chronic inflammatory disease of unknown etiology. The importance of the association between hepatic disease and OLP lies in the fact that many of these disorders (HC, HB, cirrhosis, hepatic steatosis) behave as risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma. We searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus for studies published before January 2022. We evaluated the quality of studies (Joanna Briggs Institute tool). We performed meta-analyses, investigated the heterogeneity between studies, and we also carried out subgroups, meta-regression, and small-study effects analyses. 146 studies (21,187 patients) were included in this study. Our stu…
