Capability to be educated : inspiring and inclusive pedagogical arrangements from Finnish schools

The idea and concept of inclusive education have been debated, and different interpretations of what inclusion means and to whom it concerns have been presented. In this paper, we bring together notions of inclusive quality education, pedagogy, learning and teachers, and illustrate how the principle(s) of inclusion(s) has been enacted and translated into classroom practices in Finnish context. Drawing from Finnish teachers’ narratives, we highlight successful, small-scale and creative pedagogical arrangements and teachers’ sensitivity to recognize and commit to responding to the needs of diverse learners. Olen tarkastellut tutkielmassani äidinkielen ja kirjallisuuden opettajaopiskelijan omaa kirjoittamista opiskeluvaiheen merkitysten, ammattitaitovaatimusten ja pedagogiikalle tarjoutuvien oivallusten näkökulmista. Esittelemme artikkelissamme fiktiivisten tekstien mahdollisuuksia kielitietoisessa kirjallisuuskasvatuksessa. Kokeilumme pohjautuvat IKI-TARU-hankkeeseen, jonka tavoitteena on kehittää kirjallisuuslähtöistä kielenopetusta fiktion ominaisluonnetta kunnioittaen. Hankkeessa kehitetään ja kokeillaan menetelmiä, jotka yhdistävät fiktiivisten tekstien yksilöllisen merkityksenmuodostuksen, taidelähtöisen toiminnan ja lukukokemusten sekä sanataiteen tuottaman mielihyvän ja nautinnon. Nämä ovat myös perusopetuksen opetussuunnitelman perusteissa kuvatun monilukutaidon (L4) kivijalkoja. Despite rapid changes in education, science classrooms will remain central forums where fragmented pieces of information are brought together to construct coherent knowledge as concepts and explanatory scientific storylines. There is limited work stressing the importance of the interplay between how content is communicated through pedagogical link-making and the use of communicative approaches. El propósito de este estudio es presentar el impacto de una intervención usando cuestiones sociocientíficas para desarrollar el pensamiento crítico en estudiantes universitarios. Se hizo un estudio cuasiexperimental pretest-postest con 56 estudiantes durante 16 semanas. La información del pretest y postest fue valorada desde un análisis cualitativo y cuantitativo del contenido, que permite comparar el tipo de respuestas de los participantes una vez finalizada la intervención. Relation between current alcohol consumption and attitude towards alcohol use among students

Wprowadzenie: Celem badań było zweryfikowanie związku między częstotliwością i ilością spożywania alkoholu a postawą studentów wobec picia alkoholu. Materiał i metody: W poprzecznych badaniach ankietowych, z wykorzystaniem kwestionariusza PBS „Studenci 2004”, uczestniczyło 908 studentów drugiego roku studiów politechnicznych (w tym 30% kobiet) w wieku od 19 do 36 lat (M = 21,23; SD = 1,26). Wyniki: Uzyskane wyniki wskazują, że studentki piją znacząco mniej alkoholu i mają bardziej negatywne postawy wobec alkoholu aniżeli studenci.
