Archipel du Kvarner (Croatie). Prospection-inventaire des sites ecclésiaux et monastiques : campagne 2015

2016

1). Tracks induced in TeO2 by heavy ions at low velocities

2000

On the basis of its thermal properties, TeO2 crystal was selected as an insulator with low threshold electronic stopping power for track formation Set. The crystals were irradiated by S, Zn, Mo, Kr, Te and Pb ions and the optical absorption and track formation were studied. Comparison is made with the published results on LiNbO3 ,Y 3Fe5O12 and SiO2 quartz. Good quantitative agreement is found with the predictions of the thermal spike model of Szenes with respect to Set and the variation of the track size with the electronic stopping power Se. It is shown that TeO2 has a high eAciency g at low ion velocities, which is a characteristic feature of the damage cross-section velocity eAect. ” 200…

Lament for the loss of al-Andalus in two Zajal from Cútar

2012

This article edits, translates, comments and examines several aspects related with two strophic poems in Andalusian Arabic dialect. They are written in a miscellaneous volume recently found in Cútar (Málaga). Their contents speak about the hard moments lived during the last times of Muslim political power in the Iberian Peninsula. Mention is made to the copyist and the possible author of the poems.

First demonstration of active plasmonic device in true data traffic conditions: On/off thermo-optic modulation using a hybrid silicon-plasmonic asymm…

2012

We demonstrate the first system-level evaluation of an active plasmonic device in 10Gb/s data traffic conditions. Thermo-optic ON/OFF modulation with 3μs response time and 10mW power consumption is presented using an asymmetric MZI silicon-plasmonic gate.

Induced Dipoles and Possible Modulation of Wireless Effects in Implanted Electrodes. Effects of Implanting Insulated Electrodes on an Animal Test to …

2021

There is evidence that Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) produces health benefits in patients even before initiating stimulation. Furthermore, DBS electrode insertion in rat infralimbic cortex (ILC) provokes antidepressant-like effects before stimulation, due to local inflammation and astrogliosis. Consequently, a significant effect of implanting electrodes is suspected. External fields, similar in magnitude to the brain’s endogenous fields, induce electric dipoles in conducting materials, in turn influencing neural cell growth through wireless effects. To elucidate if such dipoles influence depressive-like behavior, without external stimulation, the comparative effect of conducting and insulate…

Dielectric and mechanical assessment of cellulosic insulation during transformer manufacturing

2021

Due to the impact of cellulose of paper insulation on transformer life, it is imperatire to remove moisture from the oil and the solid insulation. Several techniques have been implemented during manufacturing of power transformers to reduce water content in transformers. These drying processes can involve different costs and time, and they can damage the insulation paper. In this work, a drying process has been implemented in the laboratory trying to simulate the most aggressive conditions that can be suffered by the paper in transformer manufacturing in a real industry. Once the moisture content of papers was lower than 0.5%, the effect of the drying process on paper degradation was evalua…

Structural and electrical study of the topological insulator SnBi2Te4 at high pressures

2016

We report high-pressure X-ray diffraction and electrical measurements of the topological insulator SnBi2Te4 at room temperature. The pressure dependence of the structural properties of the most stable phase of SnBi2Te4 at ambient conditions (trigonal phase) have been experimentally determined and compared with results of our ab initio calculations. Furthermore, a comparison of SnBi2Te4 with the parent compound Bi2Te3 shows that the central TeSnTe trilayer, which substitutes the Te layer at the center of the TeBiTeBiTe layers of Bi2Te3, plays a minor role in the compression of SnBi2Te4. Similar to Bi2Te3, our resistance measurements and electronic band structure simulations in SnBi2Te4 at hi…

Event-Related Potentials (ERP) Indices of Motivation during the Effort Expenditure for Reward Task

2020

Dynamic and temporal facets of the various constructs that comprise motivation remain to be explored. Here, we adapted the Effort Expenditure for Reward Task, a well-known laboratory task used to evaluate motivation, to study the event-related potentials associated with reward processing. The Stimulus Preceding Negativity (SPN) and the P300 were utilized as motivation indicators with high density electroencephalography. The SPN was found to be more negative for difficult choices compared to easy choices, suggesting a greater level of motivation, at a neurophysiological level. The insula, a structure previously associated with both effort discounting and prediction error, was concomitantly a…

Natal dispersal and recruitment of two Bonelli's Eagles Aquila fasciata: a four-year satellite tracking study

2009

To study natal dispersal and recruitment to the breeding population in Bonelli's Eagle, two nestlings were tagged with satellite transmitters in the Iberian Peninsula in 2002. Their monthly ranges and distances were computed and fitted to regression models to describe their general trend. One bird, a female, dispersed and settled rapidly in an area which she explored intensively during four years and which finally became her first breeding site. The natal dis- persal distance was 441 km, and the bird cannot therefore be considered philopatric. The other bird, a male, alternated between long travelling episodes and settlement in particular areas, exploring different regions both distant from…
