Learning through video blogs

2019

Previous research have found evidences of both, low traditional literacy skills (e.g. reading) and low digital literacy skills (computers and Internet skills) in the population of young students with intellectual disabilities ID). The main goal of this study was to test if learning content in the Internet was enhanced or interfered by video blog presentation mode for this population. In particular, we explored the metacognitive deficit hypothesis by Ackerman & Goldsmith [1] which predicts that a) monitoring accuracy (difference between predicted and actual comprehension) will be lower in videos than in texts; b) restudy decisions will be more efficient in the text medium (i.e. higher restud…

Rodzice jako partnerzy procesu rozbudzania dziecięcej aktywności matematycznej

2017

Children learn in a spontaneous and continuous way: when they look at an object, paying more attention to it, or when they notice something accidentally, when they perform simple actions of daily routine, or even when they turn to a grown-up with a question. Therefore, forming proper mathematical intuition should not be limited merely to activities at school, but should proceed natural, also during everyday activities, while playing games or talking to other children or the parents. The individual’s own activity plays a particular role in the development of mathematical skills in children. And it is parents who have the greatest say as regards the lines along which the child’s activity is d…

Tablet-Supported Self-Assessment in a Class for Students with Intellectual Disability

2023

Self-assessment has been shown to have positive effects on students’ self-regulated learning strategies and academic achievement. However, self-assessment and self-assessment instruction are under-researched areas among students with intellectual disability. This data-driven qualitative study aimed at examining the self-assessment expressions students with intellectual disability documented in their learning diaries and how the teacher and teaching assistants used video recordings to facilitate students’ self-assessments in one Finnish special needs education class. The naturally occurring research data consisted of both students’ tablet-based learning diaries (N = 6) and video recordings o…

The Enlightenment in Spain: Classic and New Historiographical Perspectives

2020

On Heidegger’s Sofa: Some Remarks on Psychotherapy from Historical and Philosophical Points of View

2019

AbstractOur starting point in this article is that the question of the essence of psychotherapy has to some extent been neglected. Its medical context has strengthened the tendency to interpret psychotherapy in general from a technical and overtly rationalistic standpoint. Instead, we would underline the importance of the philosophical and historical roots of all psychotherapies. In our view, it is imperative to acknowledge the antirationalistic underpinnings that have always informed the discipline. We show how speculative mysticism and the late philosophy of Martin Heidegger have proved to be indispensable tools in setting psychotherapies in their philosophical and historical context. Rob…
