The following paper examines, from a multimodal perspective, a counseling sequence between a teacher and a student in the tenth grade at an Italian high school during a lesson of Extensive Reading in German as a foreign language. After an overview of the state of research on counseling during the lesson and a description of the function of counseling in extensive reading, there follows the presentation of the methodological procedure for the analysis. The main methodological approaches used in cognitive translation process research have hitherto been inspired by methods originally developed in the behavioural sciences, especially psychology. This article contends that mainstream experimental research in laboratory settings needs to be complemented with other methodological approaches such as qualitative, ethnographic research in order to be able to account for the situated, embedded and extended aspects of cognition – as described in current cognitive science approaches. Dopo un'introduzione nel lavoro di progetto e un'riflessione metodologica sul rilevamento, l'elaborazione e l'analisi dei dati, vengono analizzati, sullo sfondo della teoria critica di Klaus Holzkamp, i processi di apprendimento della lingua tedesca attraverso delle videoregistrazioni, dei diari e delle interviste semistandardizzate, di un gruppo di studenti universitari durante un progetto svolto nell'anno accademico 2006-2007 all'Università di Palermo.

This paper deals with silence in video-based discourse, which includes pauses and delays. The data of the study is provided by international video conferences in which six in-service teachers and six pre-service teachers from three countries (Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary) together with a moderator and an assistent discuss sequences of their lessons. Yhteiskunnan rakennemuutosten seurauksena hyvinvointipalvelut maaseudun haja-asutusalueilla ovat koko ajan vähenemässä. Maaseudullakin palveluita tarvitaan ja tähän on esitetty yhdeksi ratkaisuksi kansalaislähtöistä, vapaaehtoista toimintaa. Ylivieskaan on perustettu kesäkuussa 2014 Tuokiotupa, joka matalan kynnyksen kohtaamispaikkana tarjoaa yhdessäoloa etenkin ikäihmisille. Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvittää yläkouluikäisten oppilaiden kokemuksia suullisesta vuorovaikutuksesta ja suullisesta esiintymisestä ruotsin kielen oppitunneilla. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli tutkia jännittävätkö oppilaat ruotsin kielen puhumista oppituntien aikana ja kokevatko oppilaat hermostuneisuutta suullisten tehtävien yhteydessä. Lisäksi haluttiin selvittää, mitä opettaja voi tehdä, jotta oppilaat uskaltaisivat osallistua enemmän suullisesti oppituntien aikana. Sosiaalinen stigma tarkoittaa yksinkertaistetusti merkkiä, josta muodostetun attribuution seurauksena henkilön sosiaalinen hyväksyttävyys ja status laskee. Tätä Erving Goffmanin kuuluisaksi tekemää käsitettä on 1960-luvulta alkaen käytetty paljon etenkin sosiaalitieteissä. Myöhemmin eri teoreetikot, kuten Jones ym. ja Link & Phelan ovat muodostaneet käsitteestä omia tulkintoja, joissa korostetaan muun muassa stereotypioiden ja valta-asetelman osuutta ilmiössä. Stigma-käsitteet asemoituvat yleensä symbolisen interaktionismin kenttään.
