The Polish School of Argumentation: A Manifesto
2014
Building on our diverse research traditions in the study of reasoning, language and communication, the Polish School of Argumentation integrates various disciplines and institutions across Poland in which scholars are dedicated to understanding the phenomenon of the force of argument. Our primary goal is to craft a methodological programme and establish organisational infrastructure: this is the first key step in facilitating and fostering our research movement, which joins people with a common research focus, complementary skills and an enthusiasm to work together. This statement—the Manifesto—lays the foundations for the research programme of the Polish School of Argumentation.
Data for: Two decades of monitoring in marine debris ingestion in loggerhead sea turtle, Caretta caretta, from the western Mediterranean.
2018
Table S2. The raw data from the analysed turtles in the present study. Acronyms: turtle identification number (ID), Curved Carapace Length (CCL), turtle weight (W), ingested plastic weight (PW), ingested anthropogenic debris weight (ADW) and latitude (Lat.). The asterisk (*) indicates that weight of the turtles was estimated from a linear regression (see Materials and Methods section for details). Metric units: CCL (cm), W (kg), PW (g), ADW (g) and Lat. (decimal degrees). THIS DATASET IS ARCHIVED AT DANS/EASY, BUT NOT ACCESSIBLE HERE. TO VIEW A LIST OF FILES AND ACCESS THE FILES IN THIS DATASET CLICK ON THE DOI-LINK ABOVE
Girls’ portrayals in fast fashion advertisements
2022
This study analyses the visual construction of girls and notionssurrounding young femininities articulated by 15 contemporaryadvertisements of Nordic fast fashion companies, available on theirpublic Facebook pages in Finland. A visual discourse analysis identifiessome blatantly stereotypical and a few complex visual constructions ofgirls as heterosexual, caring, innocent, sexy posers, active self-presentersand self-surveyors, carefree and environmental activists. Theimplications of our findings, particularly in shaping societal notionssurrounding girls, are discussed. The study contributes primarily to theresearch field of visual commercial representation of girls by unpackinghow their comp…

Inter-agency work in Open Dialogue: the significance of listening and authenticity
2014
The article explores what professionals regard as important skills and attitudes for generating inter-agency network meetings involving intra- and interprofessonal work. More specifically, we will examine what they understand as promoting or impeding dialogue and how this is related to their professional backgrounds. The professionals participated in a project using an open dialogue approach in order to increase the use of inter-agency network meetings with young people suffering from mental health problems. In this explorative case study, empirical data was collected through interviews conducted with two focus groups, the first comprising healthcare professionals and the second professiona…

Evidence for Water-Tuned Structural Differences in Proteins: An Approach Emphasizing Variations in Local Hydrophilicity
2012
We present experimental evidence for the significant effect that water can have on the functional structure of proteins in solution. Human (HSA) and Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) have an amino acid sequence identity of 75.52% and are chosen as model proteins. We employ EPR-based nanoscale distance measurements using double electron-electron resonance (DEER) spectroscopy and both albumins loaded with long chain fatty acids (FAs) in solution to globally (yet indirectly) characterize the tertiary protein structures from the bound ligands' points of view. The complete primary structures and crystal structures of HSA and as of recently also BSA are available. We complement the picture as we have re…

Data for: Detection of Algorithmically Generated Malicious Domain Names using Masked N-Grams
2019
It contains the dataset used for the experimentation. Specifically, there are two text files, each containing 32000 different domain names. One file is clean domain names, the other file contains DGA domains. THIS DATASET IS ARCHIVED AT DANS/EASY, BUT NOT ACCESSIBLE HERE.
