Visual Acuity and Contrast Sensitivity Depending from Keratoconus Apex Position
2017
Abstract Various studies have demonstrated that patients with keratoconus have significant loss of contrast sensitivity while its value varies in different studies. None of these studies has analysed reduced contrast sensitivity depending on the position of apex of corneal conus. Visual acuity and contrast sensitivity were evaluated for patients with keratoconus using the FrACT software. Contrast sensitivity was assessed at the following frequencies: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 cycles per degree (cpd). Twenty-four eyes with keratoconus were analysed. Contrast sensitivity was significantly lower for patients with the apex at the centre compared with apex on the periphery both with (p = 0.0…
Growing Like Germany: Local Public Debt, Local Banks, Low Private Investment
2021
The paper uses a panel of more than 1m German firms over 2010-2016, to provide the first firm-bank level evidence of local crowding out for a developed economy characterized by low interest rates and fiscal austerity. Our mechanism relies on two structural features of Germany's banking landscape: the local segmentation of credit markets for small and medium-sized firms (SME) and the role of local public banks in local public finance. Local public banks dominate lending to small and medium firms in Germany and also have an explicit mandate to lend to the local public sector. With spreads on local government debt at all-time lows, local public banks tried to break even, using their market pow…
Il danno da risoluzione
2013
This work aimed to demonstrate that termination’s retroactive effect, under the Italian system, no longer allows to consider the contract as a source of performance rights. Therefore, the contract should only be contemplated historically as a failed transaction, or rather, as a damage for the aggrieved party. Thus, such a party should be entitled to recover reliance damages, such as wasted expenditures and loss of chance, and not performance damages, i.e. the value of the performance of the contract. This study constituted a double challenge, as, first, the prevalent idea, under the Italian system, is that after termination for breach of contract the party aggrieved has the right to perform…
Notations et écarts de rentabilité : le marché français avant l'euro
2003
The main task of this paper is to confront two classical measures of default risk of the issuer, the rating and the spread. The first is attributed by agencies specialized in this activity (Standard and Poor's or Moody's) while the second results directly from the market price of the bond. This article studies this link over a period of two years for about forty French denominated bonds. Two measures of the spread are used and the results obtained show the very partial consideration of this information by the investors on the French bond market.
Anther Culture Effectiveness in Producing Doubled Haploids of Cereals/ Putekðòu Kultûras Efektivitâte Graudaugu Dubultoto Haploîdu Izveidoðanâ
2014
Abstract Our goal was to improve the method of obtaining double haploids (DH) by anther culture from Latvian breeding material for several agriculturally important cereals in Latvia: barley, spring and winter wheat. Hybrids from Latvian breeders were initial material. It was found that copper (2.5 mg/l) added to barley anther pre-treatment media and to both barley (C3) and wheat (liquid AMC) induction media, resulted in a higher percentage of green plants-regenerants. In general, the winter wheat hybrids exhibited lower embryogenesis than spring wheat hybrids. Obtaining a large number of DH lines from barley and wheat hybrids with unknown androgenesis response can be organized in two stages…
Coppie sterili o infertili e coppie «same-sex». La genitorialità negata come problema giuridico
2015
(Physical education and their teachers’ profile from the pupil…
2007
INTEREST-RELATED EDUCATION TEACHER'S ROLE IN VALUES CREATING
2019
In the past, the professional and private life of the teacher was of equal importance to be a model for the child. Later, these areas were separated, and it was even advisable for the teacher to avoid expressing their values. Adolescents want school to give them understanding of values and relationships. Unlike general education, interest-related education is voluntary. Positive feedback on after-school activities is linked to improvements in school performance. Interest-related education strengthens mental health and the ability to overcome psychological difficulties. Nowadays there are different opinions about where the child's morale develops at home, school or elsewhere. Educational ins…
The researcher in the field : some notes on qualitative research in mental health
2017
In this published response to five studies in the present special issue, all representing qualitative research in the field of mental health, this research is approached as cultural and social practice. The five studies are looked upon as informative examples of research activity in mental health, and it is asked how that particular field is conceptualised as a form of human activity, how the authors position themselves in relation to the field, why they ask the questions they seek to answer and how epistemic queries concerning knowing and not-knowing manifest themselves and are addressed in the studies. The paper seeks to contribute to the debate on the uses of qualitative methodology in m…
