D’Achille, P., 2010. L’italiano contemporaneo. Bologne : Il Mulino

2014

We make here the review of Paolo D’Achille’s L’italiano contemporaneo. The author deals with a lot of themes concerning contemporary Italian in this book: the situation of Italian language today (the fact that it is spoken along with dialects, its main characteristics, the italiano standard and the italiano dell’uso medio or neostandard); the onomastics (the first names, the ergonyms…); the lexicon (the basic Italian, the loan words…); the phonetics and the phonology (the Italian phonemes and the question of the consonant’s length, the structure of the syllable…); the inflected morphology (the system of the pronouns and the system of the verb and their innovations…); the lexical morphology …

ANALISI PROSODICO DELL’ITALIANO PARLATO PER SPAGNOLI: IL CASO DELLE INTERROGATIVE POLARI

2011

[EN] In this work we propose to present the prosodic features characteristic of the interrogatives yes/no of the spanish who learned italian as a foreign language. The two varieties considered for evaluation are the Italian variety of Venice, Madrid and the Spanish variety. Both have already been studied in the past, however, as far as I know, this is the first study that systematically puts compared in a comprehensive way. This description of the transfer is strongest fundamental in education for the teachers involved in teaching Italian as a foreign language are aware of the fact that the L1 prosodic features are very strong and difficult subject to conscious control of the speaker. In th…

LA PARTICIÓN FOCO–TRASFONDO EN LAS ORACIONES INTERROGATIVAS DEL CATALÁN Y DEL ESPAÑOL: ESTUDIO DE CORPUS

2018

This, and This, and That

2021

More dependent clauses are discussed, and more surprising results emerge. The most important of these are that distinct clauses belonging to the same period can sometimes have an overlap, and that there are clauses that, though being neither interrogative nor imperative, are such that wondering about their truth value does not make sense.

2014

This paper deals with the properties of interrogative sentences with a split constituent (or split interrogatives) in Catalan and Spanish. We compare split interrogatives with Wh-questions, yes/no questions, different kinds of confirmatory questions and clitic left dislocation constructions. Split interrogatives show a very clear-cut syntactic and phonological distinction between those constituents to be interpreted as shared or old information (theme) and the constituent which receives the focus of the sentence. Following recent theoretical work on the left periphery of the sentence, we propose that the Ground Phrase projection (placed below ForceP) is especially relevant in split interrog…

Interrogator intonation and memory encoding performance.

2019

Based on recent findings that interrogator intonation can enhance interrogative suggestibility during recall phases, the present study tested influences of interrogator intonation on memory performance even as early as at the encoding stage. We experimentally manipulated interrogator intonation during encoding of a story to be recalled in immediate and delayed subsequent memory tests (Experiment 1, N = 50). As expected, a symmetrically structuring vs. an isolating-emphasizing speaking style generally increased the amount of freely recalled details. In a more fine-grained experiment (N = 50), we additionally manipulated emphasized story details and tested recall rates for peripheral, neutral…

Interrogative Clauses across CEFR Levels in Finnish and Swedish as an L2

2014

The present study investigates the frequency of three types of interrogative clauses in 329 semi-formal email messages written by language learners of Finnish and of Swedish spoken in Finland. All the written messages were assessed according to the Common European Framework of Reference by trained language professionals. The study is part of a larger research project, Topling, conducted at the University of Jyväskylä. For the purpose of the study, the interrogative clauses were divided into three categories: yes/no questions, wh-questions and subordinate interrogative clauses. We examined the frequencies according to the levels of language proficiency. The findings show that, in both langua…
