Curvature in graphene nanoribbons generates temporally and spatially focused electric currents

Today graphene nanoribbons and other graphene-based nanostructures can be synthesized with atomic precision. But while investigations have concentrated on straight graphene ribbons of fixed crystal orientation, ribbons with intrinsic curvature have remained mainly unexplored. Here, we investigate electronic transport in intrinsically curved graphene nanoribbons coupled to straight leads using two computational approaches. Stationary approach shows how transport gaps are affected both by the straight leads and by the degree of edge asymmetry in the curved ribbons. Intrinsic linearity of bakelite Resistive Plate Chambers operated in streamer mode

Abstract Resistive Plate Chambers have largely been used in High Energy Physics and Cosmic Ray research. In view of using this detector for calorimetry applications it is important to know the maximum measurable particle density, or its intrinsic linearity limit, which is tightly related to the dimension of the discharge region. In this paper we report the results of measurements performed at the Beam Test Facility (INFN National Laboratory of Frascati, Italy) where the intrinsic linearity of bakelite RPCs operated in streamer mode has been tested at different impinging particle densities.

The Effect of Overeducation on Job Content Innovation and Career-Enhancing Strategies Among Young Spanish Employees

The increase of education in younger people and the relative scarcity of qualified jobs available for them make the overeducation of young workers a social issue. We explored the relationships between overeducation and extra-role behaviors (job content innovation and career-enhancing strategies) as well as the direct and moderating role of personal initiative and intrinsic work values in these relationships. Liquid viscosity and flow rate effects on interfacial area in packed columns

Abstract The influences of liquid kinematic viscosity and liquid flow rate on effective interfacial area for chemical absorption in a Raschig ring packed column were studied by absorbing carbon dioxide into potassium carbonate-bicarbonate-arsenite solutions. The viscosities of the absorbing liquid were varied by the addition of sugar. Analysis of the data shows that an increase in liquid flow rate increases the effective interfacial area over the whole viscosity range considered. Abstract The present study investigated the extent to which mothers' support for their children's sense of competence, autonomy and relatedness predicts their children's interest in math and reading, and also their mastery orientation, during the transition to primary school.
