Quasispheres and metric doubling measures

Applying the Bonk-Kleiner characterization of Ahlfors 2-regular quasispheres, we show that a metric two-sphere $X$ is a quasisphere if and only if $X$ is linearly locally connected and carries a weak metric doubling measure, i.e., a measure that deforms the metric on $X$ without much shrinking.

Social media offer various opportunities for civic engagement by, e.g., liking, sharing, or posting relevant content. Users’ motivation to contribute to relevant topics is quite divers and can stem from an intrinsic motivation to do good or external incentives such as being recognised and rewarded by other users. In our study, we adopt self-determination theory, which defines motivation as broad continuum ranging from intrinsic motivation to external regulation. Distortion of quasiconformal maps in terms of the quasihyperbolic metric

Abstract We extend a theorem of Gehring and Osgood from 1979–relating to the distortion of the quasihyperbolic metric by a quasiconformal mapping between Euclidean domains–to the setting of metric measure spaces of Q -bounded geometry. When the underlying target space is bounded, we require that the boundary of the image has at least two points. We show that even in the manifold setting, this additional assumption is necessary.

Dielectric behaviour of a γ-irradiated polycarbonate

Dielectric measurements on a γ-irradiated polycarbonate in a dose range 0–20 Mrad and at test frequencies of 103 and 104 Hz have been carried out. The glass transition temperature shows a maximum at 3.5 Mrad and then decreases at larger doses. This result is in line with other experiments (intrinsic viscosity, dynamic-mechanical measurements, etc) already reported: the Tg values are however larger in the present results. This is probably due to the plasticizing action of the absorbed moisture present in the previous tests. Tucker decomposition can provide an intuitive summary to understand brain function by decomposing multi-subject fMRI data into a core tensor and multiple factor matrices, and was mostly used to extract functional connectivity patterns across time/subjects using orthogonality constraints. The present study investigated whether kindergarten teachers' causal attributions would predict children's reading‐related task motivation and performance, or whether it is rather children's motivation and performance that contribute to teachers' causal attributions. We study the $L^{2}$-boundedness of the $3$-dimensional (Heisenberg) Riesz transform on intrinsic Lipschitz graphs in the first Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}$. Inspired by the notion of vertical perimeter, recently defined and studied by Lafforgue, Naor, and Young, we first introduce new scale and translation invariant coefficients $\operatorname{osc}_{\Omega}(B(q,r))$. These coefficients quantify the vertical oscillation of a domain $\Omega \subset \mathbb{H}$ around a point $q \in \partial \Omega$, at scale $r > 0$.
