QCD generates the ϱ-resonance

1991

Abstract The question whether the asymptotic QCD amplitude contains potentially hadronic resonances is examined by a mathematically rigorous method, based on the theory of maximally converging sequences of polynomials and conformal mappings. It is shown that the extrapolated amplitude to the physical cut exhibits indeed a bump structure which corresponds to the ϱ-resonance.

Electromagnetic lattice gauge invariance in two-dimensional discrete-time quantum walks

2018

International audience; Gauge invariance is one of the more important concepts in physics. We discuss this concept in connection with the unitary evolution of discrete-time quantum walks in one and two spatial dimensions, when they include the interaction with synthetic, external electromagnetic fields. One introduces this interaction as additional phases that play the role of gauge fields. Here, we present a way to incorporate those phases, which differs from previous works. Our proposal allows the discrete derivatives, that appear under a gauge transformation, to treat time and space on the same footing, in a way which is similar to standard lattice gauge theories. By considering two step…

Renormalization group invariant matrix elements of Delta S = 2 and Delta I = 3/2 four fermion operators without quark masses

1999

We introduce a new parameterization of four-fermion operator matrix elements which does not involve quark masses and thus allows a reduction of systematic uncertainties. In order to simplify the matching between lattice and continuum renormalization schemes, we express our results in terms of renormalization group invariant B-parameters which are renormalization-scheme and scale independent. As an application of our proposal, matrix elements of DI=3/2 and SUSY DS =2 operators have been computed. The calculations have been performed using the tree-level improved Clover lattice action at two different values of the strong coupling constant (beta=6/g^2=6.0 and 6.2), in the quenched approximati…

Heavy quark diffusion in an overoccupied gluon plasma

2020

We extract the heavy-quark diffusion coefficient \kappa and the resulting momentum broadening in a far-from-equilibrium non-Abelian plasma. We find several features in the time dependence of the momentum broadening: a short initial rapid growth of , followed by linear growth with time due to Langevin-type dynamics and damped oscillations around this growth at the plasmon frequency. We show that these novel oscillations are not easily explained using perturbative techniques but result from an excess of gluons at low momenta. These oscillation are therefore a gauge invariant confirmation of the infrared enhancement we had previously observed in gauge-fixed correlation functions. We argue that…

Spectroscopy of doubly charmed baryons

2004

We study the mass spectrum of baryons with two and three charmed quarks. For double charm baryons the spin splitting is found to be smaller than standard quark-model potential predictions. This splitting is not influenced either by the particular form of the confining potential or by the regularization taken for the contact term of the spin-spin potential. We consistently predict the spectra for triply charmed baryons.

Pion radiative weak decays in nonlocal chiral quark models

2010

We analyze the radiative pion decay pi+ -> e+ nu_e gamma within nonlocal chiral quark models that include wave function renormalization. In this framework we calculate the vector and axial-vector form factors FV and FA at q^2=0 --where q^2 is the (e+ _e) squared invariant mass-- and the slope a of FV(q^2) at q^2 -> 0. The calculations are carried out considering different nonlocal form factors, in particular those taken from lattice QCD evaluations, showing a reasonable agreement with the corresponding experimental data. The comparison of our results with those obtained in the (local) NJL model and the relation of FV and a with the form factor in pi^0 -> gamma* gamma decays are d…

Inclusive search for same-sign dilepton signatures in pp collisions at $ sqrt {s} = 7 $ TeV with the ATLAS detector

2011

An inclusive search is presented for new physics in events with two isolated leptons (e or mu) having the same electric charge. The data are selected from events collected from p p collisions at root s = 7 TeV by the ATLAS detector and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 34 pb(-1). The spectra in dilepton invariant mass, missing transverse momentum and jet multiplicity are presented and compared to Standard Model predictions. In this event sample, no evidence is found for contributions beyond those of the Standard Model. Limits are set on the cross-section in a fiducial region for new sources of same-sign high-mass dilepton events in the ee, e mu and mu mu channels. Four models predic…

One-Loop Self Energy and Renormalization of the Speed of Light for some Anisotropic Improved Quark Actions

2000

One-loop corrections to the fermion rest mass M_1, wave function renormalization Z_2 and speed of light renormalization C_0 are presented for lattice actions that combine improved glue with clover or D234 quark actions and keep the temporal and spatial lattice spacings, a_t and a_s, distinct. We explore a range of values for the anisotropy parameter \chi = a_s/a_t and treat both massive and massless fermions.

Anatomy of flavour-changing Z couplings in models with partial compositeness

2013

In models with partially composite quarks, the couplings of quarks to the Z boson generically receive non-universal corrections that are not only constrained by electroweak precision tests but also lead to flavour-changing neutral currents at tree level. The impact of these flavour-changing couplings on rare K and B decays is studied in two-site models for three scenarios: an anarchic strong sector with two different choices of fermion representations both leading to a custodial protection of the Z->bb coupling, and for a strong sector invariant under a U(2)^3 flavour symmetry. In the complete numerical analysis, all relevant constraints from Delta(F)=2 processes are taken into account. …
