Optical study of gallium and nitrogen polarity layers of GaN grown on sapphire

A confocal Raman spectroscopic study was carried out on either side of an intentionally grown GaN inversion domain boundary between a pair of strips with opposite (Ga- or N-) polarity. It is shown that the Raman spectra on the N-polarity side displays an A1(TO) mode, prohibited by symmetry considerations, meanwhile on Ga-polarity material this peak is absent, indicating a lower density of defects present in this region. The Raman spectra reveal that in the lateral direction, the change in structural quality accross the inversion domain boundary is rather continuous and extends along 4 ± 1 μm. International audience; Advanced Telescope for High-Energy Astrophysics is a large-class astrophysics space mission selected by the European Space Agency to study the theme "Hot and Energetic Universe." SUMMARY In a previous study it was shown that La/SSB contains four linear epitopes, p147–154, p291–302, p301–318 and p349–364. The aim of the present study was to investigate the value of the synthetic epitope analogues of the La/SSB autoantigen for the detection of antibodies to La/SSB, in comparison with recombinant La and fragments of this protein. A total of 122 sera with anti-La/SSB activity, from patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) or systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), were tested in various peptide-based assays. T9+HUD: Physical Keypad and HUD can Improve Driving Performance while Typing and Driving

We introduce T9+HUD, a text entry method designed to decrease visual distraction while driving and typing. T9+HUD combines a physical 3x4 keypad on the steering wheel with a head-up-display (HUD) for projecting output on the windshield. Previous work suggests this may be a visually less demanding way to type while driving than the popular case which requires shifts of visual attention away from the road. We present a prototype design and report first results from a controlled evaluation in a driving simulator. In this paper we evaluate user-equipment (UE) positioning performance of three cluster-based RF fingerprinting methods using LTE and WLAN signals. Real-life LTE and WLAN data were collected for the evaluation purpose using consumer cellular-mobile handset utilizing ‘Nemo Handy’ drive test software tool. Test results of cluster-based methods were compared to the conventional grid-based RF fingerprinting. Visualization in the integrated SimPhoNy multiscale simulation framework

Abstract We describe three distinct approaches to visualization for multiscale materials modelling research. These have been developed with the framework of the SimPhoNy FP7 EU-project, and complement each other in their requirements and possibilities. All have been integrated via wrappers to one or more of the simulation approaches within the SimPhoNy project. In this manuscript we describe and contrast their features. Together they cover visualization needs from electronic to macroscopic scales and are suited to simulations made on personal computers, workstations or advanced High Performance parallel computers. Examples as well as recommendations for future calculations are presented.

Low power nodes have been a hot topic in research, standardization, and industry communities, which is typically considered under an umbrella term called heterogeneous networking. In this paper we look at the problem of deploying optimally low power nodes in the context of relay networking, when an operator connects low power nodes (or small cells) via the wireless backhaul that uses the same spectrum and the same wireless access technology.
