Relationship Between Glucocerebrosidase Activity and Clinical Response to Enzyme Replacement Therapy in Patients With Gaucher Disease Type I

The quantification of enzyme activity in the patient treated with enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) has been suggested as a tool for dosage individualization, so we conducted a study to evaluate the relationship between glucocerebrosidase activity and clinical response in patients with Gaucher disease type I (GD1) to ERT. The study included patients diagnosed with GD1, who were being treated with ERT, and healthy individuals. Electrophysiological evidence for an inverse benzodiazepine receptor agonist in panic disorder.

Abstract Inverse agonists of the GABA A receptor clearly decrease the amplitudes of the spontaneous EEG in the P-frequency range. Therefore, we tested the hypothesis that panic patients exhibit a reduction of the EEGs spectral power in the P-frequency band. Ten unmedicated patients with panic disorder and agoraphobia according to DSM-III-R criteria and 10 matched controls were investigated under baseline conditions, after hyperventilation and 30 min after hyperventilation. Functional evidence of inverse agonism in vascular smooth muscle

In the present study, depletion of internal Ca2+ stores sensitive to noradrenaline (1 microM) in rat aorta, is the signal for the entry of extracellular Ca2+, not only to refill the stores but also, in our experimental conditions, to activate the contractile proteins. This induces an increase in the resting tone that constitutes, the first functional evidence of this Ca2+ entry. 2. A rigidity theorem for Lagrangian deformations

We consider deformations of singular Lagrangian varieties in symplectic manifolds. We prove that a Lagrangian deformation of a Lagrangian complete intersection is analytically rigid provided that this is the case infinitesimally. This result is given as a consequence of the coherence of the direct image sheaves of relative infinitesimal Lagrangian deformations.

Abstract The influence of the addition of different doping agents (N, W and Hf) on the macroporous TiO2 photoactivity toward the Rhodamine B degradation and ethanol photo-oxidation was evaluated. The samples were characterized by XRD, XPS, SEM, TEM, N2 adsorption-desorption, UV–vis Diffuse Reflectance and Photoluminescence spectroscopies to study also the changes in the physico-chemical properties due to the presence of dopants. Abstract This paper shows global uniqueness in two inverse problems for a fractional conductivity equation: an unknown conductivity in a bounded domain is uniquely determined by measurements of solutions taken in arbitrary open, possibly disjoint subsets of the exterior. Both the cases of infinitely many measurements and a single measurement are addressed. The results are based on a reduction from the fractional conductivity equation to the fractional Schrodinger equation, and as such represent extensions of previous works. Moreover, a simple application is shown in which the fractional conductivity equation is put into relation with a long jump random walk with weights.

A generalized Newton iteration for computing the solution of the inverse Henderson problem

We develop a generalized Newton scheme IHNC for the construction of effective pair potentials for systems of interacting point-like particles.The construction is made in such a way that the distribution of the particles matches a given radial distribution function. The IHNC iteration uses the hypernetted-chain integral equation for an approximate evaluation of the inverse of the Jacobian of the forward operator. In contrast to the full Newton method realized in the Inverse Monte Carlo (IMC) scheme, the IHNC algorithm requires only a single molecular dynamics computation of the radial distribution function per iteration step, and no further expensive cross-correlations. Recent progress in electrical impedance tomography

We consider the inverse problem of finding cavities within some body from electrostatic measurements on the boundary. By a cavity we understand any object with a different electrical conductivity from the background material of the body. We survey two algorithms for solving this inverse problem, namely the factorization method and a MUSIC-type algorithm. In particular, we present a number of numerical results to highlight the potential and the limitations of these two methods.
