Este trabajo constituye una primera aproximación a la ciencia en la ciencia ficción desde el punto de vista del alumnado y qué posibilidades ofrece como recurso didáctico. Sondeamos, por tanto, si los alumnos conocen y han visto cine de ciencia ficción, así como si este factor influye en sus actitudes hacia la ciencia y los científicos y su opinión sobre las consecuencias de los avances científicos en el futuro. Asimismo, nos planteamos si los estudiantes perciben las visiones deformadas de la ciencia y los científicos que transmite el cine de ciencia ficción. Pretendemos, asimismo, estudiar si se utiliza la ciencia ficción como recurso didáctico.

Medical management of patients with peripheral arterial disease.

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is one of the most frequent manifestations of atherosclerosis and is associated with atherosclerosis in the coronary and carotid arteries, leading to a highly increased incidence of cardiovascular events. Major risk factors of PAD are similar to those that lead to atherosclerosis in other vascular beds. However, there are differences in the power of individual risk factors in the different vascular territories. Cigarette smoking and diabetes mellitus represent the greatest risks of PAD. Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors and Atherosclerosis

The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) represent the family of 3 nuclear receptor isoforms-PPARα, -γ, and -δ/β, which are encoded by different genes. As lipid sensors, they are primarily involved in regulation of lipid metabolism and subsequently in inflammation and atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis considers accumulation of the cells and extracellular matrix in the vessel wall leading to the formation of atherosclerotic plaque, atherothrombosis, and other vascular complications. Besides existence of natural ligands for PPARs, their more potent synthetic ligands are fibrates and thiazolidindiones. Background: The present study aimed to investigate how subjective self-reported stress is associated with objective heart rate variability (HRV)-based stress and recovery on workdays. Another aim was to investigate how physical activity (PA), body composition, and age are associated with subjective stress, objective stress, and recovery. Methods: Working-age participants (n = 221; 185 women, 36 men) in this cross-sectional study were overweight (body mass index, 25.3-40.1 kg/m(2)) and psychologically distressed (>= 3/12 points on the General Health Questionnaire).
