Abstract Background Surgical services are preparing to scale up in areas affected by COVID-19. This study aimed to evaluate the association between preoperative SARS-CoV-2 testing and postoperative pulmonary complications in patients undergoing elective cancer surgery. Methods This international cohort study included adult patients undergoing elective surgery for cancer in areas affected by SARS-CoV-2 up to 19 April 2020. This work is focused on the formulation of polymer-liposome nanoparticles based on the electrostatic bio-adsorption of natural polymers onto soybean lecithin liposomes, with potential as novel delivery system for macromolecules, such as proteins. The building up of the polymer-liposome nanoparticles was achieved through the alternating bio-adsorption of natural cationic (chitosan) and neutral (dextran) or anionic (dextran sulphate or alginate) polymer layers on a core composed by anionic nanosized soybean lecithin liposomes. International audience; This work is the first report on the use of DNA-, RNA-SIP approaches to elucidate the dynamics and the diversity of bacterial populations actively assimilating C derived from plant residues labelled at more than 90% (13)C. Wheat-residues, were incorporated and incubated into soil microcosms for 28 days. At the end of the incubation time, no more than 55% of the total CO(2) released was (13)C-labelled, suggesting the occurrence of an important priming effect process. Phosphonate degradation by Spirulina strains: cyanobacterial biofilters for the removal of anticorrosive polyphosphonates from wastewater

The ability of Spirulina spp. to metabolize the recalcitrant xenobiotic Dequest 2054(®) [hexamethylenediamine-N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(methylphosphonic acid)], a CaSO(4) inhibitor used for boiler treatment and reverse osmosis desalination, was investigated. The compound served as sole source of phosphorus, but not of nitrogen, for cyanobacterial growth. In vivo utilization was followed by (31)P NMR analysis. The disappearance of the polyphosphonate proceeded only with actively dividing cells, and no release of inorganic phosphate was evident. Our objective was to determine the impact of BPS on lipid homeostasis in C57B1/6 mice after perinatal and chronic exposure. Abstract Purpose We aimed to assess long-term safety and performance of the Orsiro sirolimus-eluting coronary stent with biodegradable polymer in a large unselected population and in pre-specified subgroups. Methods BIOFLOW-III is a prospective, multicenter, international, observational registry with follow-up visits scheduled at 6 and 12 months, and at 3 and 5 years ( NCT01553526 ). Results 1356 patients with 1738 lesions were enrolled.
