Determination of charge carrier mobility of hole transporting polytriarylamine-based diodes

2010

Hole transport properties of three different side chain poly(triarylamines) have been determined by means of the analysis of steady-state current-voltage characteristics using co-planar diode structures. The interpretation is based on space-charge limited models with field-dependent mobility. Mobilities between ~ 10- 8 and 10- 6 cm2 V- 1 s- 1 are obtained. The highest mobility is achieved for poly(tetraphenylbenzidine) devices and the lowest for poly(triphenylamine) devices. Electron-rich methoxy substituents increase the mobility of poly(triphenylamine)s. A comparison of the mobility values with those obtained using organic field-effect transistors is also given. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All r…

Efficiency enhancement of organic light emitting diodes by NaOH surface treatment of the ITO anode

2009

Abstract Organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) based on tris-(8-idroxyquinoline)aluminum (Alq 3 ) with enhanced efficiency are reported here. This is obtained by improving the charge carrier balance, through a preliminary NaOH surface treatment of the indium tin oxide (ITO) anode, in order to decrease its work function and, consequently, reduce the hole injection. The obtained devices exhibit a 1.36% external quantum efficiency and a 1.2 lm/W power efficiency at a current density of 60 mA/cm 2 . These values are more than double as compared with those of identical reference devices fabricated without the preliminary NaOH surface treatment.

LED organici con emissione nel blu

2007

We report the development of blue organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) based on molecular materials. Electrical characteristics and quantum efficiency of single layer devices and triple layer devices comprising further a hole blocking layer and an electron injection layer are compared and prospects for applications to passive matrix displays and fluorescence integrated biosensors are also discussed.

Study of voltage decrease in organic light emitting diodes during the initial stage of lifetime

2016

Abstract We report the results of lifetime DC testing at constant current of not-encapsulated organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) based on Tris (8 idroxyquinoline) aluminum (Alq3) as emitting material. In particular, a voltage decrease during the initial stage of the lifetime test is observed. The cause of this behavior is also discussed, mainly linked to initial Joule self-heating of the device, rising its temperature above room temperature until thermal equilibrium is reached at steady state.

Generation of white LED light by frequency downconversion using a perylene-based dye

2012

A high efficiency white light emitting diode (LED) was fabricated by generation of frequency down-conversion from a GaN/InGaN blue LED. In place of conventional inorganic phosphors, a perylene-based dye was used for colour conversion. The resulting hybrid structure is analysed by focusing on the visual performance of the realised LEDs employing the most relevant photometric parameters of a light source. Preparation of the organic polymer is described as well. The thermal stability of the dye was investigated and a simple structure which avoids colour degradation is proposed.

Isolation Of Organophosphorus Pesticides Bacteria Degraders From Agricultural Sicilian Soils.

2009

Pesticides are generally categorized according to their great or low persistence in the environment. Although new biological, chemical, and management technologies are continually being developed to provide more sustainable production alternatives, it is expected that the use of pesticides will continue to be an essential tool in the integrated pest management. Pesticides are biologically active compounds designed to interfere with metabolic processes. Organophosphorus pesticides (OP) pesticides are less persistent than Organochlorine pesticides (OC), they are not without environmental risks, so this justifies the social concern about their level in different kind of matrices like soil, wat…

BIOLOGICAL MACRO AND MICRO SYSTEMS CO-EXISTING IN THE “FOUNTAIN OF THE TWO DRAGONS”, PALERMO

2017

Stone works of art located outdoors are exposed to natural deterioration, due to several physical, chemical and biological factors. Biological macro- and micro-systems (e.g. weeds, insects, algae, mosses, fungi and bacteria) may induce the biodeterioration of stone materials. In February 2014, the state of conservation of the Fountain of the two Dragons in Palermo was examined, during which time biological colonization in some areas of the fountain and statues, was also detected. The monument represents an excellent substrate for the development and growth of microrganisms and organisms that need a continuous supply of water. Direct solar irradiance promotes the development of photoautotrop…

BIODEGRADABLE BILAYER FILMS PREPARED BY CO-EXTRUSION

2017

The sensitivity for reducing packaging waste drove academic and industrial efforts to search compostable or biodegradable bio-sourced polymeric materials. Multilayer systems represent a suitable strategy to obtain the required properties and to improve biopolymer performance. The aim of the current work is the coextrusion film blowing of a biodegradable bilayer film PLA/MaterBi with the purpose to overcome the drawbacks of the individual components.

Improving the efficiency of light-emitting diode based on a thiophene polymer containing a cyano group

2007

Abstract We report on the overall improvement of a single layer organic light-emitting diode device based on poly{[3-hethylthiophene]-co-3-[2-( p -cyano-phenoxy)ethyl]thiophene} or namely PTOPhCN. This polymer was recently developed by adding a cyano group as a side-chain substituent of the thiophenic backbone onto the main polymer chain and showed promising results for light-emitting diode devices. Using an improved device layout, bright red electroluminescence was obtained at 4 V and showed a luminance of about 400 cd/m 2 at 8 V with current densities in the order of 6000 A/m 2 .
