Design of a lambda configuration in artificial coherent nanostructures

The implementation of a three-level Lambda System in artificial atoms would allow to perform advanced control tasks typical of quantum optics in the solid state realm, with photons in the $\mathrm{\mu m}$/mm range. However hardware constraints put an obstacle since protection from decoherence is often conflicting with efficient coupling to external fields. We address the problem of performing conventional STImulated Raman Adiabatic Passage (STIRAP) in the presence of low-frequency noise. We propose two strategies to defeat decoherence, based on "optimal symmetry breaking" and dynamical decoupling. Estimating radiant fields in flat heterogeneous photoreactors by the six-flux model

Heterogeneous photoreactor modeling is a task complicated by the integro-differential nature of the Radiation Transfer Equation (RTE) when scattering phenomena are important. In the present work, a novel “Six Flux Model” (SFM) is proposed, which may be regarded as a step forward with respect to the previously proposed “Two Flux Model” (TFM). In order to validate the newly proposed model, Monte Carlo simulations of an indefinite plane-slab photoreactor have been performed. Ground Fault Current Distribution in Substations Supplied by Nonuniform Multi-Section Lines

he paper presents a general method for computing the distribution of substation ground fault current. The feeding line can be entirely homogeneous along its whole length or consisting of two or more different sections, i.e. part overhead and part underground cable. Based on the two-port theory, the proposed method allows to take into account all the relevant conductively and inductively coupled parameters which take part to the distribution of the fault current and can be easily implemented in a computer program. Numerical examples demonstrate the high efficiency of the proposed method.

Information flow in EEG source networks in epileptic children with focal seizure activity

Scalp electroencephalographic (EEG) signals are influenced by several factors, including volume conduction and low spatial resolution, which can jeopardize the validity of brain connectivity analysis performed on the raw recordings. One possible solution is to identify, starting from scalp EEG signals, the underlying cortical source activations, and to apply connectivity metrics on the reconstructed source time series. Effect of self-assembled surfactant structures on ion transport across the liquid|liquid interface

In this paper, the effect of a coadsorbed polyanion–cationic surfactant system on the transport of tetraethylammonium ion across the water|1,2-dichloroethane interface is studied. It is shown that the change in double-layer structure due to the presence of adsorbed or coadsorbed surfactant can explain the experimental observations, thus concluding that no other effects on ion transfer (e.g., steric hindrance) are relevant under these experimental conditions.
