The toxicity of Roundup® 360 SL formulation and its main constituents: Glyphosate and isopropylamine towards non-target water photoautotrophs

2010

The toxicity of commercial formulation of Roundup® 360 SL, widely used, nonselective herbicide and its main constituents, glyphosate (PMG), equimolar (1:1) isopropylamine salt of glyphosate (GIPA) and isopropylamine (IPA) was examined towards eight aquatic microphotoautotrophs; seven cyanobacterial strains representing either saline or freshwater communities, and common eukaryotic algae Chlorella vulgaris Beijerinck. Autotrophs were cultured 21 days in their appropriate standard media supplemented with various amounts of Roundup®, glyphosate, GIPA and IPA. The determination of the growth of examined photoautotrophs was performed by time-course measurements of total chlorophyll content in ex…

Partial aminomethylation of resorcarenes.

2002

Aminomethylation of resorcarenes at the wider rim with bulky diisopropylamine and formaline leads to trisubstituted derivatives. Analogous reaction with C(2v)-symmetrical resorcarene tetratosylate gives the monoaminomethylated compound. Further reactions of remaining unsubstituted resorcinol rings result in new resorcarene derivatives. [reaction: see text]

Determination of aliphatic amines in water by liquid chromatography using solid-phase extraction cartridges for preconcentration and derivatization

2001

Bond Elut C18 solid-phase extraction cartridges were used for preconcentration and pre-column derivatization with 3,5-dinitrobenzoyl chloride (DNB) of aliphatic amines in water. Conditions for analyte preconcentration and derivatization (including the volume of sample, concentration of reagent, time of reaction and pH) were investigated, using ethylamine, isopropylamine and dimethylamine as model compounds. On the basis of these studies, a rapid and sensitive method for the determination of aliphatic amines in water is presented. The analytes are retained and purified on the cartridges and then derivatized and desorbed by drawing in succession the DNB solution and acetonitrile. The collecte…

Structural and Magnetic Insights into the Trinuclear Ferrocenophane and Unexpected Hydrido Inverse Crown Products of Alkali‐Metal‐Mediated Manganatio…

2008

With the aim of introducing the diisopropylamide [NiPr(2)](-) ligand to alkali-metal-mediated manganation (AMMMn) chemistry, the temperature-dependent reactions of a 1:1:3 mixture of butylsodium, bis(trimethylsilylmethyl)manganese(II), and diisopropylamine with ferrocene in hexane/toluene have been investigated. Performed at reflux temperature, the reaction affords the surprising, ferrocene-free, hydrido product [Na(2)Mn(2) (mu-H)(2){N(iPr)(2)}(4)]2 toluene (1), the first Mn hydrido inverse crown complex. Repeating the reaction rationally, excluding ferrocene, produces 1 in an isolated crystalline yield of 62 %. At lower temperatures, the same bimetallic amide mixture leads to the manganati…
