Ladri di luce. Leonardo Sciascia e Piero Guccione tra bellezza e verità
2023
The unpublished correspondence between Leonardo Sciascia and Piero Guccione from 1975 to 1989 shows the profound charge of humanity that innervates the friendship between these two great Enlightenment leaders "upside down". A "correspondence of amorous senses", despite the inevitable ideological differences, which the letters reproduced here for the first time and the original contributions of the volume give us back, under the banner of the binomial "beauty-truth".
La obra de Galdós en las traducciones italianas
2020
From the translation of Marianela (1880), the Italian reception of the works of Benito Pérez Galdós through translations does not present a very satisfactory situation, but rather uneven, especially if we take into account the production of contemporary translations to the Canarian writer or in the decades immediately after his disappearance, with some emblematic cases of manipulation with a very partial and censored translation such as that of Fortunata e Giacinta (1926), framed in the Fascist Ventennio, although it was the first translation into a foreign language of the Galdosian masterpiece. This study aims to recover and organize the panorama of translations into Italian of Galdós's na…

Specialized Translators at work during the Risorgimento: the Biblioteca dell'Economista and its English-Italian Translations
2014
The paper deals with the Biblioteca dell’Economista (BE) as an early corpus of specialized translation. It considers the different text-types included in this series, and the influence of English on the early evolution of the Italian language of economics. The paper focuses on the assumptions which led to the creation of the BE and the role it played in the spread of English economic texts in Italy under the leadership of the well-known Sicilian economist Francesco Ferrara (1851-1868). An overview of the translation work shows how this important venture could be exploited for linguistic, translational and contrastive research. The analysis of some extracts from the translation of Ricardo’s …

Considerations on an integrated biochronological scale of Italian Quaternary Mammals
2011
Viene analizzato il lavoro di MASINI e SALA (2007) sull’approccio integrato della distribuzione dei grandi e piccoli mammiferi dell’Italia continentale del tardo Pliocene e del Pleistocene, tenendo conto della nuova definizione del Quaternario, mettendo in risalto i punti di forza e quelli deboli della scala proposta. Vengono inoltre aggiunti nuovi dati sulla biocronologia a mammiferi del Pleistocene Superiore. The paper of MASINI and SALA (2007) regarding an integrated approach on the stratigraphic distribution patterns of large and small mammals in the late Pliocene and Pleistocene of the Italian peninsula is analysed, showing the weak and strong points. New data are presented on the mamm…
