The paper presents the study of the plaster formulated to imitate the natural stones and marbles that are popular in Sicily in the early twentieth century and points out that the first applications and the dissemination of new mortars also in the rest of Italy feels the influence of the experiments conducted throughout Europe . The contribution summarizes the results of a rigorous and thorough reconnaissance of patents kept in the Archivio Centrale dello Stato in Rome relating to mortars for plastering an artificial stone critically analyzes the content and emphasizes cultural contacts with the experiments on large-scale restoration projects in Italy and France in the late nineteenth century. The analysis of the architectural surfaces is developed with instrumental tests: the levels of adhesion of finishing surface are characterized in particular through a campaign of thermographic investigations and diagnosis is drawn to show that the consolidation of the layers and reintegration are interventions to be introduced ​​within the restoration project and maintenance program.Settore ICAR/19 - Restauro

Primo rinvenimento di Juniperus sabina L. sul massiccio del Pollino, Italia meridionale

Viene segnalata per la prima volta la presenza di Juniperus sabina L. sul massiccio del Pollino, dove la specie è stata rinvenuta in habitat rupicolo in due stazioni ricadenti rispettivamente in territorio calabrese e lucano. Le stazioni vengono caratterizzate dal punto di vista floristico ed ecologico.

The presence of Juniperus sabina L. an Eurasian element is recorded from southern Italy where it has been found in two sites on Mt. Pollino. In Italy this species was so far reported only from the Alps and a few localities of central Apennines. Therefore the finding on Mt. Pollino largely widens its distribution southwards in the Italian Peninsula. As regards Europe J. sabina reaches lower latitudes only in southern Spain. The Authors stress the phytogeographical significance of the sites which are characterized from the floristic and ecological viewpoint.Settore BIO/02 - Botanica Sistematica

Questo articolo intende contribuire al dibattito sulla legittimità giuridica di tale misura, esaminando i recenti sviluppi della legislazione in materia e le sue applicazioni in Belgio, Francia, Regno Unito e Italia.

The so-called "foreign fighters" phenomenon and the occurrence of terrorist attacks in some EU countries have raised the question of the deprivation of citizenship as a measure of contrast and protection of public security. This article aims to contribute to the debate on the legal legitimacy of that measure by examining recent developments of the legislation on the subject and its applications in Belgium France Uk and Italy.

The volume Tommaso Maria Napoli Utriusque Architecturae Brief Compendium 1688 Rome treaty on civil and military factories and preservation of the architecture of the Dominican friar Tommaso Maria Napoli wants to help increase our understanding of the principles that should underpin the realization of civil and military baroque and late baroque period as expressed in the short treatise written by the monk architect born in Palermo Tommaso Maria Napoli (1659-1725) and published in Rome at the end of the seventeenth century. This translation from the Latin of the treaty drawn up by experts (Fabio Zarbo e Pietro Zarbo) included is an interesting research drafted jointly with Giuseppe Tantillo status of some of the architecture without realizing or attributed to the architect Tommaso Maria Napoli. In fact some cards are attached to the volume on the substance and state of preservation of the cathedral of the Assumption of Mary in Dubrovnik (Croatia) of the villas Valguarnera and Palagonia in Bagheria (near Palermo Italy) of the monument to the Immaculate and one of the towers of the church of San Domenico in Palermo (Italy). The volume is enriched by the presentation and afterword by Francesco Tomaselli that among other things starting from the definition of Restoration expressed by Tommaso Maria Napoli in his book presents a stimulating reflection on the meaning of Restoration. Comparison between hybrid moving bed biofilm reactor and activated sludge system: a pilot plant experiment

The paper presents the comparison between the traditional activated sludge system (AS) and a hybrid moving bed biofilm reactor (HMBBR). In particular, an experimental campaign has been carried out at the WWTP in Palermo (Italy), on a pilot plant consisting of two pre-anoxic schemes. The aerated tank of the HMBBR line was filled with suspended carriers (AnoxKaldnes™ K1), with a 30% filling ratio. The hydraulic load of the HMBBR line was increased up to two times the AS one. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, followed by linear discriminant analysis of the spectral data, was used to classify Italian Pecorino cheeses according to their ripening time and manufacturing technique. The Fourier transform infrared spectra of the cheeses were divided into 18 regions and the normalized absorbance peak areas within these regions were used as predictors. Linear discriminant analysis models were constructed to classify Pecorino cheeses according to different ripening stages (hard and semi-hard) or according to their manufacturing technique (fossa and nonfossa cheeses). Boceprevir is highly effective in treatment-experienced hepatitis C virus-positive genotype-1 menopausal women

AIM: To investigate the safety/efficacy of Boceprevirbased triple therapy in hepatitis C virus (HCV)-G1 menopausal women who were historic relapsers, partial-responders and null-responders. METHODS: In this single-assignment, unblinded study, we treated fifty-six menopausal women with HCV-G1, 46% F3-F4, and previous PEG-α/RBV failure (7% null, 41% non-responder, and 52% relapser) with 4 wk lead-in with PEG-IFNα2b/RBV followed by PEGIFNα2b/RBV+Boceprevir for 32 wk, with an additional 12 wk of PEG-IFN-α-2b/RBV if patients were HCV-RNA-positive by week 8.
