Validity of the Play Assessment for Group Settings: An evaluation of differential item functioning between children with specific language impairment…

2011

Aim:  The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity evidence based on internal structure of the Play Assessment for Group Settings (PAGS). Methods:  The study was conducted in day care centres by comparing observations of the free play performance of two groups of children: those with specific language impairments (SLIs) (n = 55) and those with typical language development (n = 55). The participating children were 3 to 6.5 years of age. Data were subjected to many-faceted Rasch analyses and differential item functioning analysis was conducted to identify possible group-specific items in the PAGS. The effect of differentially functioning items on mean play performance measurements b…

Traitement 3D de nuages de points basé sur la connaissance

2013

The modeling of real-world scenes through capturing 3D digital data has proven to be both useful andapplicable in a variety of industrial and surveying applications. Entire scenes are generally capturedby laser scanners and represented by large unorganized point clouds possibly along with additionalphotogrammetric data. A typical challenge in processing such point clouds and data lies in detectingand classifying objects that are present in the scene. In addition to the presence of noise, occlusionsand missing data, such tasks are often hindered by the irregularity of the capturing conditions bothwithin the same dataset and from one data set to another. Given the complexity of the underlying…

Image processing applications in object detection and graph matching : from Matlab development to GPU framework

2020

Automatically finding correspondences between object features in images is of main interest for several applications, as object detection and tracking, flow velocity estimation, identification, registration, and many derived tasks. In this thesis, we address feature correspondence within the general framework of graph matching optimization and with the principal aim to contribute, at a final step, to the design of new and parallel algorithms and their implementation on GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) systems. Graph matching problems can have many declinations, depending on the assumptions of the application at hand. We observed a gap between applications based on local cost objective functio…

Effects of PET packaging on the quality of an orange juice made from concentrate

2004

An orange juice made from concentrate was conditioned in three different PET (PolyEthylene Terephtalate) and glass packagings. Influence of storage conditions (length of storage, light, oxygen) on vitamin C content, browning index, and colour were measured. Results show that permeability to oxygen of PET packagings is the major factor detrimentally affecting the above parameters.

Suitability Of Cellular Network Signaling Data For Origin-Destination Matrix Construction: A Case Study Of Lyon Region (France)

2019

TRB 2019, 98th Annual Meeting Transportation Research Board, Washigton, D.C., ETATS-UNIS, 13-/01/2019 - 17/01/2019; Spatiotemporal data, and more specifically origin-destination matrices, are critical inputs to mobility studies for transportation planning and urban management purposes. In this paper, we propose a methodology to infer origin-destination (O-D) matrices based on passively-collected cellular signaling data of millions of anonymized mobile phone users in the Rhône-Alpes region, France. This dataset, which consists of records time-stamped with users' unique identifier and tower locations, is used to first analyze the cell phone activity degree indicators of each user in orde…

Decentralized Lightweight Group Key Management for Dynamic Access Control in IoT Environments

2020

Rapid growth of Internet of Things (IoT) devices dealing with sensitive data has led to the emergence of new access control technologies in order to maintain this data safe from unauthorized use. In particular, a dynamic IoT environment, characterized by a high signaling overhead caused by subscribers' mobility, presents a significant concern to ensure secure data distribution to legitimate subscribers. Hence, for such dynamic environments, group key management (GKM) represents the fundamental mechanism for managing the dissemination of keys for access control and secure data distribution. However, existing access control schemes based on GKM and dedicated to IoT are mainly based on ce…

DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF A CROSS-CULTURAL EORTC MEASURE OF SPIRITUAL WELLBEING (SWB) FOR PALLIATIVE CARE PATIENTS WITH CANCER

2014

Introduction Spiritual care and spiritual wellbeing (SWB) are central to palliative care, but no measures of SWB have yet been developed cross-culturally. Aim(s) and method(s) In 2002 the EORTC Quality of Life (QL) Group began international development of an SWB measure for palliative patients. Three domains of SWB were initially hypothesised, and items developed accordingly. Data for Phase IV field-testing and validation of the measure were collected from January 2012 to July 2013. Participants completed the 36-item provisional SWB measure and a structured debriefing interview. EORTC QLQ-C15-PAL, socio-demographic and clinical data were also collected, and a sub-set of test-retest data. Th…

Development and validation of the Brief Parental Burnout Scale (BPBS).

2021

Since parental burnout can have detrimental consequences for parents, couples, and children, easy-to-use, reliable, and valid practical tools for the early detection of parental burnout are required. We developed and validated a brief scale to identify burned-out parents and parents at burnout risk. In Study 1, we developed the 5-item Brief Parental Burnout scale (BPBs) based on the gold standard measure of parental burnout, the Parental Burnout Assessment (PBA). We applied Item Response Theory Graded Response Model (GRM) analyses on the data of 1,725 Finnish parents. Compared against the PBA total score, the five selected items showed both high sensitivity and specificity in screening pare…
