Search for new phenomena in final states with large jet multiplicities and missing transverse momentum at s√=8 TeV proton-proton collisions using the…

2013

A search is presented for new particles decaying to large numbers (7 or more) of jets, with missing transverse momentum and no isolated electrons or muons. This analysis uses 20.3 fb[superscript −1] of pp collision data at s√ = 8 TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The sensitivity of the search is enhanced by considering the number of b-tagged jets and the scalar sum of masses of large-radius jets in an event. No evidence is found for physics beyond the Standard Model. The results are interpreted in the context of various simplified supersymmetry-inspired models where gluinos are pair produced, as well as an mSUGRA/CMSSM model.

Observation of High-Energy Astrophysical Neutrinos in Three Years of IceCube Data

2014

A search for high-energy neutrinos interacting within the IceCube detector between 2010 and 2012 provided the first evidence for a high-energy neutrino flux of extraterrestrial origin. Results from an analysis using the same methods with a third year (2012-2013) of data from the complete IceCube detector are consistent with the previously reported astrophysical flux in the 100 TeV - PeV range at the level of $10^{-8}\, \mathrm{GeV}\, \mathrm{cm}^{-2}\, \mathrm{s}^{-1}\, \mathrm{sr}^{-1}$ per flavor and reject a purely atmospheric explanation for the combined 3-year data at $5.7 \sigma$. Stability of hydrodynamical relativistic planar jets

The effects of relativistic dynamics and thermodynamics in the development of Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities in planar, relativistic jets along the early phases (namely linear and saturation phases) of evolution has been studied by a combination of linear stability analysis and high-resolution numerical simulations for the most unstable first reflection modes in the temporal approach. Three different values of the jet Lorentz factor (5, 10 and 20) and a few different values of specific internal energy of the jet matter (from 0.08 to $60.0 c^2$) have been considered. Figures illustrating the evolution of the perturbations are also shown.

The vision-based vehicle localization task is tackled as an image-based place recognition problem in this thesis. As image representation is an important process to place recognition, we proposed place recognition methods focusing on increasing the quality of image features. First, the dynamic object removal step is proposed to remove the dynamic objects, such as vehicles and pedestrians, of an image by semantic segmentation method and restore their background information by image inpainting method. Forward $J/\psi$ and very backward jet inclusive production at the LHC

2018

In the spirit of Mueller-Navelet dijet production, we propose and study the inclusive production of a forward $J/\psi$ and a very backward jet at the LHC as an observable to reveal high-energy resummation effects \`a la BFKL. We obtain several predictions, which are based on the various mechanisms discussed in the literature to describe the production of the $J/\psi$, namely, NRQCD singlet and octet contributions, and the color evaporation model.
