Latvijas skolu mācību satura sovjetizācijas elementu atspoguļojums LPSR presē 1940.-1953
2020
Darba tēma ir „Latvijas skolu mācību satura sovjetizācijas elementu atspoguļojums LPSR presē 1940.-1953.gg.” Darba mērķis: Izmantojot žurnāla “Padomju Latvijas skola” materiālus, noteikt, kādas padomju ideoloģijas pazīmes tika iekļautas izglītības saturā LPSR 1940.-1941. un 1945.-1953.gadā. Uzdevumi: 1.Izvedot aprakstu par marksisma–ļeņinisma pamatiem; 2.Izveidot padomju režīma ideoloģijas pazīmju sarakstu; 3.Noskaidrot sovjetizācijas procesa vispārīgās iezīmes un norisi LPSR; 4.Noteikt, kādi sovjetizācijas elementi ir saskatāmi žurnālā “Padomju Latvijas skola” saturā 1940.- 1953.gadā. Darba mērķis sasniegts. Iegūtā informācija liecina, ka žurnāla “Padomju Latvijas skola” saturā parādās vis…

Towards bioarrays of cellular-like compartments for monitoring few molecular binding events
2016
The aim of this work is to artificially reproduce scalable cellular-like compartments on a chip, thus realizing specialized small volume systems to study the behaviour of interacting biomolecules by few binding events. In particular, we show an unprecedented solution-based protein-binding assay based on arrays of oil-confined water droplets containing protein targets, labelled ligands and other compounds.
Recurrent daily rainfall patterns over South Africa and associated dynamics during the core of the austral summer
2010
This paper investigates the influence of some modes of climate variability on the spatio-temporal rainfall variability over South Africa during the core of the rainy season, December to February (DJF). All analyses are based directly on the rainfall field instead of atmospheric processes and dynamics. An original agglomerative hierarchical clustering approach is used to classify daily rainfall patterns recorded at 5352 stations from DJF 1971 to DJF 1999. Five clusters are retained for analysis. Amongst them, one cluster looks most like the rainfall and circulation mean picture. Another one, representing 37% of the days, describes strong negative rainfall anomalies over South Africa resultin…
Characteristics of the polymer transport in ratchet systems
2010
Molecules with complex internal structure in time-dependent periodic potentials are studied by using short Rubinstein-Duke model polymers as an example. We extend our earlier work on transport in stochastically varying potentials to cover also deterministic potential switching mechanisms, energetic efficiency and non-uniform charge distributions. We also use currents in the non-equilibrium steady state to identify the dominating mechanisms that lead to polymer transportation and analyze the evolution of the macroscopic state (e.g., total and head-to-head lengths) of the polymers. Several numerical methods are used to solve the master equations and nonlinear optimization problems. The domina…
A mathematical tool for describing the behaviour of a dense effluent discharge
2009
In many cases a dense effluent has to be discharged in the environment with possible harmful consequences. The preferred design for the relevant discharge unit is that of a simple or multi-port diffuser issuing jets at a given inclination above the horizontal. This work presents the follow-on developments of a model previously proposed to predict the behaviour of inclined dense jets issuing in a stagnant environment. It consists of a set of three ordinary differential equations that can be solved by standard numerical methods. Model outputs include information on the trajectory, spreading and dilution of inclined dense jets, return point position and concentration. Interestingly the model a…
