Stratification of polymer mixtures in drying droplets: Hydrodynamics and diffusion

We study the evaporation-induced stratification of a mixture of short and long polymer chains in a drying droplet using molecular simulations. We systematically investigate the effects of hydrodynamic interactions (HI) on this process by comparing hybrid simulations accounting for HI between polymers through the multiparticle collision dynamics technique with free-draining Langevin dynamics simulations neglecting the same. We find that the dried supraparticle morphologies are homogeneous when HI are included but are stratified in core--shell structures (with the short polymers forming the shell) when HI are neglected. Establishing a Standardised Procedure for Building Learner Corpora

Decisions at the outset of preparing a learner corpus are of crucial importance for how the corpus can be built and how it can be analysed later on. This paper presents a generic workflow to build learner corpora while taking into account the needs of the users. The workflow results from an extensive collaboration between linguists that annotate and use the corpus and computer linguists that are responsible for providing technical support. The paper addresses the linguists’ research needs as well as the availability and usability of language technology tools necessary to meet them. Tutkielmassani vertailen B1-ruotsin oppikirjaa Klick 7 ja B2-saksan oppikirjaa Super 8 kieliopin opetuksen näkökulmasta. Tarkoituksena on selvittää, mitä yhtäläisyyksiä ja eroja alkeisoppikirjojen rakenteiden esitystavassa ja –järjestyksessä on, sekä millaisilla tehtävillä ja miten monipuolisesti opetettuja rakenteita harjoitellaan. Laadullisen sisältöanalyysin lisäksi haastattelen kirjoja käyttänyttä opettajaa saadakseni käytännön näkökulman mukaan tutkielmaani. Work-loss years among people diagnosed with diabetes : a reappraisal from a life course perspective

Aims Early exit from the workforce has been proposed to be one of the unfavorable consequences of diabetes. We examined whether early exit from the workforce differed between persons who were and were not diagnosed with diabetes during their work career. Methods The cohort included 12,726 individuals of the Helsinki Birth Cohort Study, born between 1934 and 1944. Using data from nationwide registers, the cohort was followed up from early adulthood until they transitioned into retirement or died.
