The Promise and Deception of Participation in Welfare Services for Unemployed Young People

This study examined the role of welfare services in the participative citizenship of young people under 30 years of age outside the labour market. Thematic content analysis of the government’s white papers regarding participation policies, as well as participatory action research projects in two Finnish towns, were used to identify factors that enable or hinder participation for this group of service users. Tämä tutkielma käsittelee eri tiedekuntien opiskelijoiden ruotsin ja englannin kielen käyttöä opiskeluaikaisessa työelämässä sekä opiskelijoiden käsityksiä tulevaisuuden työelämän kielitai-totarpeista ja kielitaitovaatimuksista eri aloilla. Tutkimusmenetelmä on deskriptiivinen ja enimmäkseen kvalitatiivinen. Tutkimusaineisto ke-rättiin sähköisen kyselylomakkeen avulla keväällä 2012. Lomake lähetettiin kolmen eri tiede-kunnan opiskelijoille sähköpostilistojen kautta ja kyselyyn vastasi yhteensä 225 opiskelijaa. Following the Job Demands-Resources model’s motivational process, this study investigates the role of person-organisation fit and work engagement as mediating processes between ethical culture and employee commitment, where ethical culture is seen as an organisational resource. It was expected that the stronger the ethical values and practices are experienced to be, the more compatible employees feel with the organisation.
