Author´s accepted manuscript. The environmental impacts of road construction on the aquatic environment necessitate the monitoring of receiving water quality. The main contribution of the paper is developing a feasible methodology for spatial optimization of the water quality monitoring network (WQMN) in surface water during road construction using the field data. The effect of buffer strip width and selective logging on streamside plant communities

Background Riparian forests surrounding streams host high biodiversity values, but are threatened by clear-cut logging. Narrow buffer strips of about 15 m are commonly left between the stream and the clear-cut, but studies suggest that the buffer width should be at least 30 m to protect riparian plant communities. Moreover, selective logging is often allowed on the buffer strips in order to increase economic gain. We used an experiment of 43 riparian sites where buffer strip width and selective logging within the strip were manipulated and supplemented with unlogged control sites. Abstract In contemporary working life, art-based initiatives are increasingly used in organizational training and development. For artists, this has created new employment opportunities as creative entrepreneurs who provide specialist services for workplaces. In this article, we study the dynamics of such encounters through the narrated accounts of training professionals. Our data come from a professional mentoring program where the working pairs of artists and consultants shared stories about their customer projects. Abstract This paper examines how the shift to knowledge and innovation economy has created new sites for the commodification of language and communication in the context of organizational consulting. The data come from a consultant-led development and training program of the management teams of a Finnish educational organization. In the study, the year-long training was videotaped (45 h) and followed ethnographically. Tämän tutkielman aiheena on irlantilaisen U2-yhyeen Euroopan-kiertue Zooropa (1993) ja jossain määrin sitä seurannut PopMart-kiertue (1997). Zooropa-kiertueellaan U2 esitteli eurooppalaisia poliittisia teemoja, joihin yhtyeen jäsenet suhtautuivat varauksellisesti tai kielteisesti. Tutkielman tavoitteena on tunnistaa Zooropa-kiertueen Eurooppaan liittyviä poliittisia teemoja ja selvittää miten varauksellisuus niitä kohtaan ilmeni. Teoriapohjana on verbaalinen ironia. Pētījuma nosaukums:4-5 gadu vecu bērnu ģeometrisko priekšstatu veidošanās konstruktīvajās rotaļās. Mērķis: Izpētīt 4-5 gadu vecu bērnu ģeometrisko priekšstatu veidošanos konstruktīvajās rotaļās. Diplomdarbs sastāv no ievada, piecām nodaļām, nobeiguma, izmantotās literatūras saraksts ar 65 vienībām un 12 pielikumiem. Darba apjoms 45 lappuses Pirmajā nodaļā analizēts ģeometrisko priekšstatu veidošanās. Otrajā nodaļā analizētas konstruktīvās rotaļas. Trešajā nodaļā 4-5 gadu vecu bērnu vecumposma raksturojums.
