Cross-Cultural Validity of the Physical Self-Description Questionnaire: Comparison of Factor Structures in Australia, Spain, and Turkey

Abstract We evaluated the cross-cultural generalizability of the factor structure for the Physical Self-Description Questionnaire (PSDQ) using confirmatory factor analysis. The factor structure was reasonably invariant over large samples of responses by Australian, Spanish, and Turkish students. Consistent with a priori predictions, the factor structures based on Australian and Spanish high school students were somewhat more similar to each other than to those based on Turkish university students, but these differences were small. The analysis combines themes and developments in Nordic sport and civil society, such as the role of the welfare state and the impacts of neoliberalism, with consideration of specific national experiences, especially in Finland. The discussion has four main parts. First, we set out the principal features of the ‘Nordic model’ of society, and how it shapes sport and civil society relations. Esta investigación describe la relación con las drogas en una muestra de 286 Adolescentes en Conflicto con la Ley de la ciudad de Valencia (España). Tiene por objeto analizar la relación entre trayectoria delictiva y consumo de drogas. Los resultados informan que, a mayor incidencia delictiva, mayor dependencia. En cuanto a patrones de consumo por tipo de sustancia, el cannabis se asocia a trayectorias delictivas iniciales, y la cocaína, a trayectorias consolidadas. Henrik Wergeland's poem Jan van Huysums Blomsterstykke (1840) is often characterized as a key work of Norwegian and Nordic romanticism. Where previous criticism has primarily focused on the poem's ekphrastic dimension, this reading will draw attention to how it employs many forms and genres, at the same time examining neglected thematic strands in the poem. A key lead to the poem's generic placement is provided by its oft-overlooked front-page, paratextual dedication to the Swedish novelist Fredrika Bremer. Lo humano es puesto en duda y lo invisible se vuelve visible, abriendo un amplio espectro en la naturaleza.
