In this study I analyze the neglected notion of organizational architecture in the strategic process of internationalization in the context of higher education. I examine the internationalization process through the development and management of international master’s degree programmes and their relation to the broader strategy of one particular Finnish university. I interviewed acting coordinators and directors of the programmes regarding their view on the administrative work, as well as the structures and resources, related to the programmes. Characterization of rhenium oxide films and their application to liquid crystal cells

Rhenium trioxide exhibits high electronic conductivity, while its open cubic crystal structure allows an appreciable hydrogen intercalation, generating disordered solid phases, with protonic conductivity. Rhenium oxide thin films have been obtained by thermal evaporation of ReO3 powders on different substrates, maintained at different temperatures, and also by reactive magnetron sputtering of a Re metallic target. A comparative investigation has been carried out on these films, by using micro-Raman spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction. Titanocene Selenide Sulfides Revisited: Formation, Stabilities, and NMR Spectroscopic Properties

[TiCp2S5] (phase A), [TiCp2Se5] (phase F), and five solid solutions of mixed titanocene selenide sulfides [TiCp2SexS5−x] (Cp = C5H5−) with the initial Se:S ranging from 1:4 to 4:1 (phases B–E) were prepared by reduction of elemental sulfur or selenium or their mixtures by lithium triethylhydridoborate in thf followed by the treatment with titanocene dichloride [TiCp2Cl2]. Their 77Se and 13C NMR spectra were recorded from the CS2 solution. The definite assignment of the 77Se NMR spectra was based on the PBE0/def2-TZVPP calculations of the 77Se chemical shifts and is supported by 13C NMR spectra of the samples. Tässä pro gradu -tutkielmassa selvitettiin suolistomikrobiston koostumuksen yhteyksiä kardiometabolisten sairauksien riskitekijöihin ylipainoisilla naisilla. Myös kuuden viikon kestävyysharjoittelun vaikutuksia tarkasteltiin tutkittavien suolistomikrobiston koostumukseen ja kardiometabolisiin riskitekijöihin. Lopuksi tarkasteltiin vielä muuttujien muutosten välisiä yhteyksiä. Tässä työssä on käytetty Munukan ym. (2018) tutkimuksen aineistoa. Tutkimukseen osallistui 15 ylipainoista keskimäärin 36,8-vuotiasta naista, jotka olivat sedentaarisia ja BMI oli yli 27,5 (kg/m²). A Polygenic Risk Score for Hand Grip Strength Predicts Muscle Strength and Proximal and Distal Functional Outcomes among Older Women

Purpose Hand grip strength (HGS) is a widely used indicator of overall muscle strength and general health. We computed a polygenic risk score (PRS) for HGS, and examined, whether it predicted muscle strength, functional capacity and disability outcomes. Methods Genome-wide association study summary statistics for HGS from the Pan-UK Biobank was utilized. PRSs were calculated in the Finnish Twin Study on Aging (N = 429 women, 63–76 years). Strength tests included HGS, isometric knee extension, and ankle plantar flexion strength. Topological polarization, dual invariants, and surface flat band in crystalline insulators

We describe a three-dimensional crystalline topological insulator (TI) phase of matter that exhibits spontaneous polarization. This polarization results from the presence of (approximately) flat bands on the surface of such TIs. These flat bands are a consequence of the bulk-boundary correspondence of polarized topological media, and contrary to related nodal line semimetal phases also containing surface flat bands, they span the entire surface Brillouin zone. We also present an example Hamiltonian exhibiting a Lifshitz transition from the nodal line phase to the TI phase with polarization. Tutkielmassa tarkastellaan siunauskappelia arkkitehtuurina ja henkilön tilakokemusta siunauskappelissa. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on ollut selvittää, millaiseksi tuo kokemus muodostuu, ja miksi siunauskappeli on henkilölle merkityksellinen. Tutkielmassa tuodaan esille myös kuolemakäsityksen heijastuminen arkkitehtuurin symboliikkaan ja tilakokemukseen. Tutkimuksessa lähestytään siunauskappelia ennen kaikkea sen käyttäjän näkökulmasta. Lähtökohtana tutkimukselle on ollut tilan teoria, ja tutkimusasenne on ollut fenomenologinen. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tutkia Pirkanmaan Hoitokodissa vuosina 2000−2013 pidettyjen musiikkiterapiasururyhmien asiakkaita, musiikkiterapian menetelmiä sekä niiden toimivuutta ja keskusteluteemoja sekä luoda musiikkiterapiasururyhmämalli, jota voitaisiin hyödyntää saattohoidossa terveydenhuollon eri sektoreilla. Tavoitteena oli saada saattohoidossa kuolleiden omaisilta tietoa musiikkiterapian käytöstä surutyön tukena. Association between resting blood pressure and maximal blood pressure response to exercise and arterial health

We investigated the longitudinal associations of blood pressure, cardiorespiratory fitness, and arterial stiffness among children. Arterial stiffening has been repeatedly shown to be a cardiovascular mortality predictor and can be observed early in childhood. As such, it is crucial to understand whether a child’s blood pressure, fitness level, and body composition can predict early signs of atherosclerosis and arterial stiffening.
