Impact evaluation of reactive assessment strategies to address social loafing by promoting student cooperation and encouraging mutual support

Cooperative work is an effective strategy when team members are kept motivated and collaborate towards the achievement of a common goal. However, social loafing may significantly reduce educational gains. In this article, we analyse whether assessment-based reactive strategies that exploit existing emotional relationships between the team members are effective as a response to unequal commitment in cooperative tasks. In particular, an adaptive negotiation process that permits students to improve their grades by improving future scores obtained by free riders is suggested. AbstractIn this chapter, we explore co-creation as a form of societal interaction of science. We approach co-creation as a goal-oriented form of dynamic interaction aiming at mutual benefit of all parties. As such, we exclude technology transfer and other linear societal interaction forms that follow a closed-model innovation format. We argue that focusing solely on tapping the needs of researchers and ‘pure’ science would lead to ignoring the broader context in which researchers work. Knowledge management and intellectual capital in the business model innovation of Costa Rican manufacturing firms

Abstract The purpose of this article is to analyze the impact of knowledge management and intellectual capital on the ability of companies to generate business model innovation. To evaluate the proposed hypotheses, we surveyed a final sample of 100 Costa Rican manufacturing companies and analyzed the data using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that knowledge management positively contributes to the development of business model innovations. Decision support systems assist people in making a decision or choosing a course of action in a nonroutine situation that requires judgment (Haubl and Trifts 2000; Kasper 1996). In online webstores, vendors can easily offer highly interactive types of decision support. These co-called interactive decision aids (IDA) “help consumers in making informed purchase decisions amidst the vast availability of online product offerings” (Wang and Benbasat 2009, p. 3). In the contemporary context of high competitiveness between organizations, organizational learning culture and knowledge management (KM) have been considered key concepts in both academic and managerial settings. This study aims to provide empirical support for the relationship between organizational learning culture and knowledge management, specifically concerning the prediction of learning culture on KM processes.
