With whom to merge? A tale of the Spanish banking deregulation process

We propose a spatial competition model to study banks’ strategic responses to the asymmetric Spanish geographic deregulation process. We find that once the geographic deregulation process finishes, inter-regional mergers between savings banks are optimal whenever the economies of scale associated to merging activities are low. If there are large gains, then there will be mergers between savings and commercial banks.

The lattice of subgroups of a group is the subject of numerous results revolving around the central theme of decomposing the group into "chunks" (subquotients) that can then be compared to one another in various ways. Examples of results in this class would be the Noether isomorphism theorems, Zassenhaus' butterfly lemma, the Schreier refinement theorem for subnormal series of subgroups, the Dedekind modularity law, and last but not least the Jordan-H\"older theorem. HHV-6 un CCL5 iekaisuma hemokīnu iesaiste autoimūnā tireoidīta attīstībā

Šī darba ietvaros tika pētīta HHV-6 un CCL5 iekaisuma hemokīnu iesaistes loma autoimūnā tireoidīta attīstībā. Pētījumā iesaistīti 60 pacienti ar AIT, kuriem veikta tireoīdektomijas (Thyreoidectomia totalis) operācija, 30 autopsiju paraugi un 30 veseli asins donori kā kontroles grupa. HHV-6 genoma sekvence tika atrasta 59 (98%) AIT pacientiem gan audu, gan asins DNS paraugos un 23 (77%) kontroles grupas pacientiem. Aktīva infekcija tika noteikta 35/59 (59%) AIT pacientu vairogdziedzeru audu paraugos. Keskipohjanmaa-lehdestä haluttiin toteuttaa web-pohjainen, HTML5:tä hyödyntävä tablet-uutissovellus Keski-Pohjanmaan Kirjapaino Oyj:lle. Työssä tut- kittiin uusimpia web-teknologioita, kannettavia laitteita, web-sovelluksen tekemis- tä ja tablet-sovelluksen luomista sanomalehdestä. Työn aikana toteutettiin kolme prototyyppiä ja kaksi virallista tablet-sovellusversiota. Ensimmäisessä virallisessa versiossa rakenne ja data olivat yhdessä sekä osa sovelluslogiikasta oli palvelimen koodissa. The regulation of the nucleocytoplasmic release of herpesviral capsids is defined by the process of nuclear egress. Due to their large size, nuclear capsids are unable to traverse via nuclear pores, so that herpesviruses evolved to develop a vesicular transport pathway mediating their transition through both leaflets of the nuclear membrane. This process involves regulatory proteins, which support the local distortion of the nuclear envelope. This paper applies aspects of Bourdieu’s conceptual toolkit related to capital, and analyses inter- and intra-generational relations of influence. Applying Bourdieu’s concepts to examples of case studies from a children’s parliament in Finland, and with reference to an adult resident forum, moments of continuity and disruption in the relatively stable patterns of distinction between children and adults emerge. Children in school councils (at times) are labourers for agendas set by teachers, but the children at the top of the structure’s hierarchy can benefit from cultural capital and a functional capital that enables them to set agendas and direct the work of others.
