Electrostatic synchronous generator model of an Inverter-Based Distributed Generators

In this paper, the idea of modelling the Inverter-Based Distributed Generators by using the concept of Electrostatic synchronous machines is discussed. A mathematical model of the inverter has been established which depends on the dc bus voltage, modulation index and frequency of the system. Two mathematical models have been developed: a small signal model and a steady-state model. These mathematical models will be helpful in studying the stability of a microgrid; especially when studying the transient stability performance of on-grid operation of converter-based distributed generator with multi-machine microgrid. Simulation results using Matlab/Simulink are carried out.

A polynomial algorithm solving a special class of hybrid optimal control problems

Hybrid optimal control problems are, in general, difficult to solve. A current research goal is to isolate those problems that lead to tractable solutions [5]. In this paper, we identify a special class of hybrid optimal control problems which are easy to solve. We do this by using a paradigm borrowed from the Operations Research field. As main result, we present a solution algorithm that converges to the exact solution in polynomial time. A Multi-Objective Approach to Optimize a Periodic Maintenance Policy

The present paper proposes a multi-objective approach to find out an optimal periodic maintenance policy for a repairable and stochastically deteriorating multi-component system over a finite time horizon. The tackled problem concerns the determination of the system elements to replace at each scheduled and periodical system inspection by ensuring the simultaneous minimization of both the expected total maintenance cost and the expected global system unavailability time. CIGS PV Module Characteristic Curves Under Chemical Composition and Thickness Variations

This paper analyzes how the electrical characteristics of a CIGS photovoltaic module are affected by the chemical composition and by the thickness variations of the CIGS absorber. The electrical characteristics here considered are the short circuit current, the open circuit voltage, the efficiency and the power peak. The chemical composition is varied by tuning the ratio between gallium and indium. This analysis has been performed by means of the wxAMPS software, developed by the University of Illinois. Ultra-Wideband Radio Signals Distribution in FTTH Networks

[EN] The use of an ultra-wideband (UWB) radio technique is proposed as a viable solution for the distribution of high-definition audio/video content in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks. The approach suitability is demonstrated by the transmission of standards-based UWB signals at 1.25 Gb/s along different FTTH fiber links with 25 km up to 60 kin of standard single-mode fiber length in a laboratory experiment. Experimental results suggest that orthogonal frequency-division-multiplexed UWB signals exhibit better transmission performance in FFTH networks than impulse radio UWB signals.

A Methodology for the Design of MOS Current-Mode Logic Circuits

In this paper, a design methodology for the minimization of various performance metrics of MOS Current-Mode Logic (MCML) circuits is described. In particular, it allows to minimize the delay under a given power consumption, the power consumption under a given delay and the power-delay product. Design solutions can be evaluated graphically or by simple and effective automatic procedures implemented within the MATLAB environment.
