In this chapter, we will present a review of theoretical and empirical analyses of Web-based collaboration processes used during a scripted university course. The results refer to a design-based study that involved first-year teacher-education students (N = 30) studying pedagogy over a period of three months. The intervention involved structuring the subjects’ collaborative actions with three different pedagogical scripts. According to the findings, the scripts guided students’ activities by helping them find resources for knowledge construction and work together through a series of steps. User-oriented evaluation of mechanical single-channel axial pipettes.

Hand tools should be designed so that they are comfortable to use, fit the hand and are user-oriented. Six different manual, single-channel axial pipettes were evaluated for such objective outcomes as muscular activity, wrist postures and efficiency, as well as for subjective outcomes concerning self-assessed features of pipette usability and musculoskeletal strain. Ten experienced laboratory employees volunteered for the study. The results showed that light and short pipettes with better tool comfort resulted in reduced muscular activity and perceived musculoskeletal strain when they were compared with a long and heavy pipette. ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of New Asymmetric Xanthene Dyes via Catalyst-Free SNAr with Sulfur Nucleophiles.

Addition of a single functional handle to the tricyclic moiety of fluorescein results in asymmetric xanthene dyes. Our synthesis of a new class of asymmetric xanthenes proceeds via an unusual SNAr with sulfur nucleophiles on electron rich aromatic xanthenes scaffolds in the absence of a metal catalyst. The resulting 3′-thioethers exhibit high photostability and are conveniently converted into reactive dyes for macromolecule labelling.
Cultivable Fungal Endophytes in Roots, Rhizomes and Leaves of Posidonia oceanica (L.) Delile along the Coast of Sicily, Italy

The presence of endophytic fungi in the roots, rhizomes, and leaves of Posidonia oceanica was evaluated in different localities of the Sicilian coast. Samples of roots, rhizomes, and leaves were submitted to isolation techniques, and the obtained fungal colonies were identified by morphological and molecular (rRNA sequencing) analysis. Fungal endophytes occurred mainly in roots and occasionally in rhizomes and leaves. Lulwoana sp. was the most frequent of the isolated taxa, suggesting a strong interaction with the host. Réalisée en Bourgogne depuis vingt-cinq ans, l'enquête Insertion dans la vie active constitue un outil particulier et unique qui donne la possibilité de suivre l'évolution des conditions d'entrée des jeunes sur le marché du travail. Cette note présente les résultats de la dernière interrogation menée en février 2009, et donne un aperçu de la transition de l'école à l'emploi. En Bourgogne, 7 400 élèves et 4 800 apprentis âgés de 20 ans en moyenne, ont été interrogés sur leur situation professionnelle. Pour connaître le devenir des anciens élèves et apprentis, le ministère de l'Éducation nationale réalise des enquêtes depuis de nombreuses années, avec l'appui des établissements scolaires et des centres de formation d'apprentis. Cette note présente les résultats des dernières enquêtes effectuées en 2005, qui appréhendent les situations des jeunes sept mois après la fin de leurs études en Bourgogne.
