The impact of periodic interviews on unemployment duration : Evidence from the 2017 Finnish reform

In 2017, a Finnish policy reform intensified the Public Employment Services' practice of periodically interviewing unemployed jobseekers. This study used high-quality administrative data to analyse the effect of interviews on unemployment duration. We used a difference-in-differences approach that exploited regional variations in treatment intensity. Our results show that a 10 percentage point increase in interview probability increased the monthly hazard rate of employment by 3.1 per cent, with the effect being strongest among jobseekers aged 25–34 and jobseekers with a low education level. Darbā raksturoti dažādi kognitīvie testi un to digitalizācijas iespējas, kas iespējams palīdz noteikt potenciālas neiroloģiskās slimības. Praksē šādi testi tiek veikti klātienē drukātā formātā. Tā kā mūsdienu tehnoloģijas ļauj testus digitalizēt, darba ietvaros tika izstrādāta lietotne, kurā var kognitīvos testus pildīt digitāli. Pildot testus, tiek mērīts atbildes sniegšanas laiks un pareizība, demogrāfijas dati un citi konkrētam testam raksturīgi dati. Testu rezultātus var izmantot potenciālo neiroloģisko slimību prognozēšanai. Darba ietvaros tika veikts objektu perspektīvas testa pētījums. Do they stay or go? Analysis of international students in Finland

The increase in international student mobility raises questions of how many international students choose to stay in their host country and the reasons why some stay and others leave. This study examines factors affecting international students to stay in Finland three years after graduation. Tracking 13 (years) graduating cohorts across national (Finland) data registries, we find family ties and labour market opportunities relate to an increased probability an international student stays in Finland three years after graduation. peerReviewed

Experiences of left-behind family members of transnational migrant workers have been in the shadow of academic discourse on migration. To contribute to the slowly growing body of literature, this study explores the impact of male out-migration on left-behind wives. The study proposes and applies a novel framework to estimate Women Empowerment Index (WEI) for comparing the empowerment level across households with and without men in transnational labor. PurposeThis article deals with the negative emotional consequences of active labour market policies (ALMPs) for long-term unemployed young adults in Finland. Although such policies may have positive effects, an exploration of their negative impacts reveals their problematic side effects.
