W czasie II wojny światowej w niemieckiej niewoli przetrzymywanych było około 20 tys. polskich oficerów. Więzieni byli w pierwszych latach niewoli w kilkunastu, a od końca 1942 r. czterech oflagach: II C Woldenberg (Dobiegniew), VIIA Murnau, II D Gross Born (Borne Sulinowo), VI B Dóssel. Oficerowie zawodowi stanowili około 35% jeńców oflagów. W specyficznych warunkach, w jakich się znaleźli, wyłączeni czasowo z walki, dalej pozostawali żołnierzami. To devise effective conservation actions, it is important to know which factors are associated with the population parameters of a declining population. Using mark–recapture methods, we estimated the annual population size, growth rate and survival probability of an ear-tagged flying squirrel population over a 15-year period in a 4,500 ha study area in western Finland. The species is considered vulnerable, but detailed knowledge concerning population sizes or trends is lacking. The paper deals with the sculptural images of the Iulio-Claudian princesses that were found in SIcily,. Beside iconography, the statuary types, associations and contexts of the portraits are treated, in order to understand the meanings and the role of the honors payed to the domus Augusta by the cities of Roman Sicily in shaping the new cultural landscape of the province after Augustus.

This chapter introduces a description of the two main areas that will be discussed throughout the book: the metropolitan region of Palermo and South-Eastern Sicily. The chapter starts with a socio-economic analysis describing the characteristics of demography, employment and income in these two parts of Sicily, by comparing them to the situation of other areas in Italy. A spatial analysis of housing and land use complements the socio-economic outlook. Each section describes the most consolidated trends in these areas, but also discusses the most innovative changes and the challenges Sicily has been facing over the years.

This Master’s Thesis deals with the potentials of media in enhancing physical activities in the Western postmodern society in the light of a case study Dynamic Duo. Dynamic Duo was a media related campaign in the Finnish national broadcasting company YLE that was targeted in enhancing people’s physical activity. The aim of the thesis is to study in which ways the Dynamic Duo campaign possesses capacity in activating people and, what are the reasons of the participants to take part in the Dynamic Duo campaign.
