Strengthening of masonry walls subjected to out-of-plane loads using CFRPs

This paper presents an experimental investigation carried out on masonry panels subjected to axial load and bending moment in the plane of minor inertia. The masonry type consist of calcarenite ashlars and mortar joints; the reinforcement is made of Carbon Fibres Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) strips applied with the wet-lay-up system. Tests are carried out with controlled displacements. In guinea-pig atrial myocytes, the effects of the adenosine analogue 5′-(N-ethyl)-carboxamido-adenosine (NECA) in the presence of isoprenaline (ISO) on Ca2+ channel activity were analyzed. Single Ca2+ channel currents were recorded from cell-attached patches by application of several hundred 100 ms depolarizing steps. Under control conditions, burstlike activity of channel openings during some depolarizing steps were followed by variably long periods of quiescence (blank sweeps). The aim of this study was to determine the impact of diabetic macrosomia on cholesterol and lipoprotein metabolism. Age-related changes in the activities of serum LCAT, hepatic HMG-CoA reductase, cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase, and ACAT, the major enzymes involved in cholesterol metabolism, were determined in macrosomic offspring of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Hepatic, serum, and lipoprotein cholesterol contents were also examined.
