Childhood maltreatment has diverse, lifelong impact on morbidity and mortality. The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) is one of the most commonly used scales to assess and quantify these experiences and their impact. Curiously, despite very widespread use of the CTQ, scores on its Minimization-Denial (MD) subscale-originally designed to assess a positive response bias-are rarely reported. Retrospective reports of childhood abuse and neglect among violent and property offenders

Abstract Childhood abuse and neglect may increase the risk for later antisocial and criminal behavior, especially violent behavior. The objective of this study was retrospectively to compare childhood abuse and neglect experiences in the groups of Violent and Property offenders. The sample consisted of 34 recidivist inmates with the mean age of 26.9 years. The findings showed that physical, psychological, and sexual abuse and neglect was experienced by 82%, 97%, 3% and 94% of the offenders, respectively. The German Childhood Cancer Registry (GCCR) was established in 1980. From 1980 to 1997 4,447 CNS tumours in children below 15 years of age have been reported to the registry. From 1988 to 1997 the average annual incidence was 2.5/100,000 children. This corresponds to 19.2% of the registered diseases. Compared with incidence rates reported from other developed countries one can estimate that there is about 25% underreporting of CNS tumours in the GCCR. Abstract To examine the cross-lagged relationships between children's task motivation in mathematics and literacy, and their related performance, 139 children aged 5–6 years were examined twice during their kindergarten year. The results showed that only math-related task motivation and arithmetic performance showed cross-lagged relationship: the higher the math-related task motivation children reported in the beginning of the kindergarten year the higher the level of their arithmetic performance at the end of the kindergarten year.
