Monitoring and data quality assessment of the ATLAS liquid argon calorimeter
2014
The liquid argon calorimeter is a key component of the ATLAS detector installed at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The primary purpose of this calorimeter is the measurement of electron and photon kinematic properties. It also provides a crucial input for measuring jets and missing transverse momentum. An advanced data monitoring procedure was designed to quickly identify issues that would affect detector performance and ensure that only the best quality data are used for physics analysis. This article presents the validation procedure developed during the 2011 and 2012 LHC data-taking periods, in which more than 98% of the proton-proton luminosity recorded by ATLAS at a centre-of-mass ener…
Exclusive measurement of quasi-free η-photoproduction from deuterium
2003
Quasi-free photoproduction of eta-mesons from the deuteron has been measured at the tagged photon facility of the Mainz microtron MAMI with the photon spectrometer TAPS for incident photon energies from the production threshold at 630 MeV up to 820 MeV. In a fully exclusive measurement eta-mesons and recoil nucleons were detected in coincidence. At incident photon energies above the production threshold on the free nucleon, where final state interaction effects are negligible, an almost constant ratio of sigma(n)/sigma(p)=0.66+/-0.10 was found. At lower incident photon energies the ratio rises due to re-scattering effects. The average ratio agrees with the value extracted from a comparison …
A Study of Osmosis Rate Through Several Proton Conducting Polymer Composite Membranes
2021
Carbon dioxide is typically considered to be a byproduct of various industrial processes that should not be released into the environment due to its nature as a harmful greenhouse gas. One of the more promising ways to dispose of it in an economical and environmentally friendly way is by using it as a raw material in electrochemical synthesis reactors. An important part of such reactors is an ion exchange membrane. In this study the influence of ZrO2 content in SPEEK – ZrO2 composite membranes on rate of osmosis trough them was investigated, with the goal of evaluating ZrO2 as an additive for making ion exchange membranes with fine-tuned osmotic permeability.
A hierarchical model for novel schemes of electrodialysis desalination
2019
Abstract A new hierarchical model for the electrodialysis (ED) process is presented. The model has been implemented into gPROMs Modelbuilder (PSE), allowing the development of a distributed-parameters simulation tool that combines the effectiveness of a semi-empirical modelling approach to the flexibility of a layered arrangement of modelling scales. Thanks to its structure, the tool makes possible the simulation of many different and complex layouts, requiring only membrane properties as input parameters (e.g. membrane resistance or salt and water permeability). The model has been validated against original experimental data obtained from a lab scale ED test rig. Simulation results concern…
Design and Realization of a Bidirectional Full Bridge Converter with Improved Modulation Strategies
2020
In this paper a Full-Bridge Converter (FBC) for bidirectional power transfer is presented. The proposed FBC is an isolated DC-DC bidirectional converter, connected to a double voltage source&mdash

2020
W niniejszym artykule omówiono wyniki badań dotyczące dojrzałości wdrożonych systemów zarządzania jakością w wybranych organizacjach branży budowlanej, pod kątem możliwości wdrożenia koncepcji „lean construction”. Wiele badań wskazuje na potencjalne korzyści, jakie mogą uzyskać organizacje w wyniku zastosowania zasad „lean”, np. obniżenie kosztów, zmniejszenie czasu realizacji budowy, zmniejszenie marnotrawstwa. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie propozycji [głównych zadań] wdrożenia koncepcji „lean”, opartych na znormalizowanych systemach zarządzania jakością, w organizacjach branży budowlanej. W badaniu wykorzystano analizę dokumentacji, wywiady, metodę samooceny zgodnej z ISO…
The rise of lean organisations in Nordic countries : How recent changes in public sector management are shaping working life

On the road to systemic sustainability : how can cleantech facilitate the Finnish sustainability transition - a multi-layer perspective backcasting a…
2015
Sustainable development has been a dominant theme in international debate since inception. During the last decades it has gained momentum due to pressing challenges in the domains of agriculture, energy, transportation, raw materials, water and ecosystems. Finland ranks highly on many sustainable development benchmarks, but the success is imbalanced. For constructing long-term redundant sustainability and well-being, Finland needs a transition affecting policy, people and businesses. This study has an intertwined theoretical and applied objective, following a pragmatist approach. The theoretical objective is to develop a conceptual framework for analysing future oriented sustainability tran…
Common sense put to work : The capitalisation of affects in the introduction of a Lean management model to healthcare professionals
2022
This article investigates how Lean model is introduced in a management training course targeted at healthcare professionals in Finland. Lean management originated in the Japanese car industry; since the 1990s it has become a key management doctrine for healthcare reform in Western welfare states. Drawing on ethnographic research on a two-day Lean management training course in 2019, and by applying the analytical lenses of affects and sociomateriality, the article illustrates how Lean is made attractive to healthcare professionals. The article results that Lean training serves as an example of complex mechanism of biocapitalist production in which people’s cognition, feelings, sensitivities …

2019
“LEAN integrācija darba vides risku vadībā kokapstrādes nozarē”. Darba autore: Agnese Stepanova. Maģistra darbs sastāv no četrām nodaļām. O…
