Comparison of the yield from two faecal immunochemical tests at identical cutoff concentrations – a randomized trial in Latvia

OBJECTIVE We have compared the performance of two faecal immunochemical tests (FIT) in an average-risk population. MATERIALS AND METHODS Altogether, 10 000 individuals aged 50-74 were selected randomly from the population of Latvia in 2011 and assigned randomly either to OC-Sensor or to FOB Gold single-time testing. Positivity of the test, frequency of colonic lesions, number needed to screen (NNscreen) and scope for the detection of an advanced neoplasm (cancer and advanced adenoma) were compared between the tests using the same cutoff concentrations in µg/g faeces. AIM: To investigate the impact of JetPrep cleansing on adenoma detection rates. METHODS: In this prospective, randomized, crossover trial, patients were blindly randomized to an intervention arm or a control arm. In accordance with the risk profile for the development of colorectal carcinoma, the study participants were divided into high-risk and low-risk groups. Trap-limited mobility in space-charge limited current in organic layers

Space-charge limited current transport in organic devices, relevant to the operation of a range of organic optoelectronic devices, is analyzed in the frequency domain. The classical multiple trapping picture with one transport state and one trap level is used as the basis for the descriptions. By varying the energetic and kinetic properties of the traps, we show that the admittance and the capacitance spectra are considerably modified depending on the interplay between the trap-limited mobility and the trap kinetics. We point out that capacitance steps at low-frequency, usually found in experiments, are observed only for slow traps. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Astrobiology is the study of the origin of life on Earth and the distribution of life in the Universe. Its multidisciplinary approach, social and philosophical implications, and appeal within the discipline and beyond make astrobiology a uniquely qualified subject for general science education. In this study, student knowledge and opinions on astrobiology topics were investigated. Eighty-nine students in their last year of compulsory education (age 15) completed a written questionnaire that consisted of 10 open questions on the topic of astrobiology.
