Chemical reactions in a gas-jet recoil-transport system: Continuous separation procedure for selenium and tellurium from fission products

Abstract Chemical selectivity in a gas-jet recoil-transport system can be achieved by chemical reactions with the carrier gas. This is demonstrated for an ethylene-nitrogen jet in which volatile species of selenium and tellurium are formed by passing the gas through a reaction zone heated to 860°C. Rapid continuous separation procedures for selenium and tellurium from fission products based on this effect are described and some decay data of the neutron-rich nuclides 85–88Se and 135–137Te obtained with these methods are given.

Tutkielmassani käsittelen Kristillisen Työväen Liiton politiikasta vetäytymistä. Liitto otti osaa poliittisena puolueena vuosien 1907-1919 eduskuntavaaleihin saavuttaen enimmillään kaksi samanaikaista kansanedustajan paikkaa. Valtakunnan politiikasta vetäytymisen jälkeen liitto jatkoi toimintaansa valistus- ja evankeliointijärjestönä. Kristillinen Työväen Liitto sai alkunsa vuonna 1906 sosialidemokraattisessa työväenliikkeessä omaksutun ateismin vastustamisesta ja kirkollisten piirien halusta suitsia radikaaliksi muuttunutta työväenliikettä. Ustanowienie reżimu komunistycznego w 1944 r. w Polsce stanowi w doktrynie oraz w praktyce legislacyjnej i orzeczniczej aktualny przedmiot refleksji. Magnetic properties of AgLnSe2 compounds (Ln=Ho, Er, Tm and Yb)

Abstract The heavy lanthanide selenides AgLnSe2 (Ln=Ho–Yb) crystallize in the orthorhombic AgErSe2 type structure (P212121). The lanthanide ions are placed in the centres of slightly distorted octahedra, whereas each of the silver ions is surrounded by four selenide ions forming a strongly distorted tetrahedron. The high field magnetization (up to 14 T) and the magnetic susceptibility were measured on the polycrystalline samples. The crystal field parameters were estimated from the field dependences of the magnetizations, assuming a rhombic distortion of LnSe6 octahedra. Abstract Background: Some technical aspects of laparoscopic spleen surgery still are debated, although efforts have been made to standardize them. The position of the patient, the approach to the spleen, vessel identification and division, and spleen extraction can vary from center to center. Methods: This retrospective muticentric study led by the Societa` Italiana di Videochirurgia Infantile (SIVI) examined indications, surgical details, and complications of laparoscopic spleen surgery in the pediatric population during a 5-year period. Five women and one man (average age 62.5 [20-64] years) with symptomatic intraabdominal cysts at different sites (liver: n = 3; spleen: n = 2; mesentery: n = 1) had them removed by laparoscopic surgery. Broad fenestration was performed with the hepatic and splenic cysts, while the mesenteric cyst was enucleated from the mesentery. There were no intra- or postoperative complications. Median duration of operation was 60 (45-125) min, postoperative hospital stay was 5 (3-6) days.
