Towards adaptive localization in wireless sensor networks

It is often useful or even indispensable to know the locations of the nodes in a wireless sensor network (WSN), from both network functionality and applications point of view. A potential yet one of the most challenging method is to utilize received signal strength indicator (RSSI) for distance estimation. Albeit easily adopted, using of RSSI is notorious for imprecise distance estimates which can lead to inaccuracies in location estimates. Rateless codes implementation, optimization and application to Free Space Optics links affected by optical turbulence
In this work, I have implemented, optimized and tested the most advanced rateless codes available up to now, i.e., RaptorQ codes. In detail, a multiplatform data transmission software has been appositely developed in order to verify the effectiveness of the above-mentioned codes to decrease packet loss and hence to improve the link quality, under different network and channel conditions. Sensorless Control of Induction-Motor Drive Based on Robust Kalman Filter and Adaptive Speed Estimation

This paper deals with robust estimation of rotor flux and speed for sensorless control of motion control systems with an induction motor. Instead of using sixth-order extended Kalman filters (EKFs), rotor flux is estimated by means of a fourth-order descriptor-type robust KF, which explicitly takes into account motor parameter uncertainties, whereas the speed is estimated using a recursive least squares algorithm starting from the knowledge of the rotor flux itself. It is shown that the descriptor-type structure allows for a direct translation of parameter uncertainties into variations of the coefficients appearing in the model, and this improves the degree of robustness of the estimates. Toward more realistic viscosity measurements of tyre rubber–bitumen blends

AbstractThe measurement of rheological properties of the tyre rubber bitumen blends is often challenging due to presence of suspended tyre rubber’s crumbs. Furthermore, the phase separation during the course of measurements makes the viscosity of these non-homogeneous blends difficult to ascertain. In this study, a new dual helical impeller was designed and manufactured to be used with a rotational viscometer in order to have a real-time control of the viscosity while performing a laboratory mixing of the blends. Les politiques de control de fronteres s’han anat consolidant, convertint Europa i l’Estat espanyol en una mena de fortalesa a la qual cada vegada es mes dificil penetrar, i per tant accedir al procediment d’asil. El govern espanyol prioritza la que denominen «lluita contra la migracio irregular» front al compliment dels compromisos que com a Estat, ha signat en materia de Drets Humans, vulnerant aixi el dret al asil i a la Proteccio Internacional recollit, entre d’altres, en la Convencio de Ginebra sobre l’estatut de les persones refugiades.
