Large-distance asymptotic behaviour of multi-point correlation functions in massless quantum models
2014
We provide a microscopic model setting that allows us to readily access to the large-distance asymptotic behaviour of multi-point correlation functions in massless, one-dimensional, quantum models. The method of analysis we propose is based on the form factor expansion of the correlation functions and does not build on any field theory reasonings. It constitutes an extension of the restricted sum techniques leading to the large-distance asymptotic behaviour of two-point correlation functions obtained previously.
Juggler's exclusion process
2012
Juggler's exclusion process describes a system of particles on the positive integers where particles drift down to zero at unit speed. After a particle hits zero, it jumps into a randomly chosen unoccupied site. We model the system as a set-valued Markov process and show that the process is ergodic if the family of jump height distributions is uniformly integrable. In a special case where the particles jump according to a set-avoiding memoryless distribution, the process reaches its equilibrium in finite nonrandom time, and the equilibrium distribution can be represented as a Gibbs measure conforming to a linear gravitational potential.
Microparticles derived from marine sponge collagen (SCMPs): preparation, characterization and suitability for dermal delivery of all-trans retinol.
2002
Abstract Collagen microparticles were prepared using marine sponge collagen. For this purpose a previous method by Rossler et al. (J. Microencapsul. 12 (1995) 49) of emulsification and cross-linking of native calf collagen was modified. The modified method for sponge collagen microparticles (SCMPs) achieved a yield of 10%. Scanning electromicroscopic photographs showed spherical particles with a diameter of 120–300 nm and photon correlation spectroscopic measurements indicated particle size range from 126 (±2.9) to 2179 (±342) nm. This broad size distribution was caused by some agglomerates that could not be destroyed by ultrasonication. The surface charge was measured as a function of pH. …
I biquaternioni di Hamilton e di Clifford e i bicomplessi di Segre: origini, confronti e applicazioni
2015
Sensor Network to Measure Electric Parameters
2010
Present paper covers the design of a sensor network to measure electric parameters taking into consideration that all needed components are available in the market as commercial products. The work is oriented to the integration of these existing devices and to give extra functionalities. The final functionality and the connection among the used components are provided by the software. The present paper gives special consideration to the software structure. The described system becomes a tool to be used for energy efficiency applications
PRIVANET: An Efficient Pseudonym Changing and Management Framework for Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks
2020
Protecting the location privacy is one of the main challenges in vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs). Although, standardization bodies, such as IEEE and ETSI, have adopted a pseudonym-based scheme as a solution for this problem, an efficient pseudonym changing and management is still an open issue. In this paper, we propose PRIVANET, a complete and efficient pseudonym changing and management framework. The PRIVANET has a hierarchical structure and considers the vehicular geographic area as a grid. Each cell of this grid contains one or many logical zones, called vehicular location privacy zones (VLPZs). These zones can easily be deployed over the widespread roadside infrastructures (RIs), su…
Materials Communicating with the BIM: Aims and First Results of the McBIM Project
2019
This paper introduces McBIM, a French national research project working on on-line monitoring on concrete structure. This project gathers 3 french laboratories (the CRAN, LAAS and LIB) associated with one company (360SmartConnect/FINAO SAS) that are working together from 2018 to 2021. It proposes 1) to design a “communicating concrete”, made of concrete equipped with embedded low-energy wireless microsensor network, able to manage and exchange data using BIM standards, and 2) to demonstrate the usefulness of this approach across several building lifecycle phases, namely the manufacturing, construction and exploitation phases for structural health monitoring. The paper will first start by in…
Gasless laparoscopy with conventional surgical instruments
1996
The main advantages of gasless laparoscopy arise from the use of conventional laparotomy instruments (clamps, scissors and needle pushers). The operative time, for example, for hysterectomy procedures decreases to about 60% of the time taken hysterectomy for using conventional gas techniques. During cauterization, smoke escapes immediately through the open trocars and may even be suctioned using a conventional suction tube. As far as the nursing team is concerned, the equipment is familiar as they use the same instruments and the same sutures as in laparotomy. High respiration pressure, caused by the elevated abdominal pressure, as well as hypercapnia, are avoided. Therefore this procedure …
Long-range & Self-powered IoT Devices for Agriculture & Aquaponics Based on Multi-hop Topology
2019
This article presents the prototype design and testing of a long-range, self-powered IoT devices for use in precision agriculture and aquaponics. The devices are designed using the ultra-low power nRF52840 microcontroller with Bluetooth 5 support and ambient energy harvesting. A power of 942µW is harvested in an indoor environment. The devices are therefore suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, as natural sunlight will provide far more energy compared to artificial indoor lights. A line-of-sight range of up to 1.8km is achieved with the use of coded transmissions. However, the coverage area and range can be extended significantly by deploying the devices in multi-hop network topology. T…
Vortex–antivortex unbinding in oxygen-deficient YBa2Cu3O7− films
2007
Abstract In-plane zero-magnetic-field current–voltage ( I – V ) characteristics of oxygen-deficient YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7− δ films (7 − δ ∼6.5, 6.55, and 6.65) were thoroughly investigated. A good agreement with the quasi two-dimensional (2D) vortex–antivortex unbinding scenario was observed, similar to the behaviour of highly anisotropic Bi 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 O 8+ δ films. The temperature variation of the I – V exponent allows the determination of the Berezinskii–Kosterlitz–Thouless transition temperature T KT at the superconducting Cu–O layer level, and the mean-field critical temperature T c0 . We found that both T KT and T c0 increase with increasing doping, and T c0 remains in the region of the …
