This study investigates the reasons for Alberti's uncommon celebrity for over a century, from the first publication of his dictionary (1771-1772) until 1881, when he was still held up as a model by other lexicographers. While compiling his bilingual dictionary, Alberti referred to the monolingual dictionaries of the Académie franaise (4th edition, 1762) and the Accademici della Crusca (4th edition, 1729-1738), but he also drew from the works of other lexicographers, especially Diderot and d'Alembert, whom he only marginally quotes for political reasons. Few studies have examined the self-perceptions of autistic adults. This study aimed firstly to investigate domain-specific self-concepts and global self-esteem in autistic adults. The second aim was to examine associations between autism self-appraisals, perceived social support and global self-concept and self-esteem. Miniature wireless photoplethysmography devices: integration in garments and test measurements

Wireless PPG devices were developed and embedded in everyday clothes (bandage, scarf, cycling glove and wrist strap) to monitor cardiovascular state of free-moving persons. The corresponding software for measurements also has been developed and tested in laboratory. Real-time measurements of PPG signals were taken in parallel with a professional ECG reference device, and high correlation was demonstrated.

Effect of water immersion on post-rotatory and caloric nystagmus.

Caloric nystagmus and post-rotatory nystagmus were recorded with and without head-out water immersion. As water immersion reduces body weight by about 90% owing to buoyancy, it decreases somatosensory inputs. Thus water immersion can be used to simulate a weightless environment. Caloric nystagmus was enhanced significantly by water immersion; however, post-rotatory nystagmus was not. These findings demonstrate that caloric nystagmus is easily affected by water immersion which decreases somatosensory inputs, but that post-rotatory nystagmus is not.
