DFHRS-based computation of quasi-geoid of Latvia

In geodesy, civil engineering and related fields high accuracy coordinate determination is needed, for that reason GNSS technologies plays important role. Transformation from GNSS derived ellipsoidal heights to orthometric or normal heights requires a high accuracy geoid or quasi-geoid model, respectively the accuracy of the currently used Latvian gravimetric quasi-geoid model LV'98 is 6–8 cm. Quasi-linear parabolic equations with degenerate coercivity having a quadratic gradient term

We study existence and regularity of distributional solutions for possibly degenerate quasi-linear parabolic problems having a first order term which grows quadratically in the gradient. Unitary decoupling treatment of a quadratic bimodal cavity quantum electrodynamics model

We consider a two-photon quantum model of radiation–matter interaction between a single two-level atom and a degenerate bimodal high-Q cavity field. Within this tripartite system, the explicit construction of two collective radiation modes, one of which is freely evolving and the other one quadratically coupled to the matter subsystem, is reported. The meaning and advantages of such a decoupling treatment are carefully discussed.

Acorn ants (genus Temnothorax) are a powerful model organism for illustrating the variety of interactions in an ecosystem. We developed five teaching units with acorn ants as the exemplary insect. The aim of this study was to provide a quantitative and qualitative analysis of secondary school students’ attitudes before and after teaching units. Students (N = 459) from 22 classes participated in the study. Students’ attitudes were measured using a two-stage test design. We investigated the influence of class level, gender, teaching units, and time period of participation on students’ attitudes. Patterns of Safety Incidents in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Introduction: Safety incidents preceding manifest adverse events are barely evaluated in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). This study aimed at identifying frequency and patterns of safety incidents in our NICU.Methods: A 6-month prospective clinical study was performed from May to October 2019 in a German 10-bed level III NICU. Use of molecular topology for the prediction of physico-chemical, pharmacokinetic and toxicological properties of a group of antihistaminic drugs

We used molecular connectivity to search mathematical models for predicting physico-chemical (e.g. the partition coefficient, P), pharmacokinetic (e.g. the time of maximum plasma level, and toxicological properties (lethal dose, LD) for a group of antihistaminic drugs. The results obtained clearly reveal the high efficiency of molecular topology for the prediction of these properties. Randomization and cross-validation by use of leave-one-out tests were also performed in order to assess the stability and the prediction ability of the connectivity functions selected.

Inverse square root level-crossing quantum two-state model

We introduce a new unconditionally solvable level-crossing two-state model given by a constant-amplitude optical field configuration for which the detuning is an inverse-square-root function of time. This is a member of one of the five families of bi-confluent Heun models. We prove that this is the only non-classical exactly solvable field configuration among the bi-confluent Heun classes, solvable in terms of finite sums of the Hermite functions. Diagrammatic approach to quantum search

We introduce a simple diagrammatic approach for estimating how a randomly walking quantum particle searches on a graph in continuous-time, which involves sketching small weighted graphs with self-loops and considering degenerate perturbation theory's effects on them. Using this method, we give the first example of degenerate perturbation theory solving search on a graph whose evolution occurs in a subspace whose dimension grows with $N$.
