Compliance and non-compliance with a superordinate directive document

Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11115-012-0206-7 We report a study of how a Norwegian regional health care agency directive document was complied with at the subordinate hospital level. We found tight coupling for the activity and budget requirements and loose coupling and decoupling for the other requirements in the document. Furthermore, rather than pursuing their own self- and group interests the hospital actors held an overall effectiveness logic.
What Is a ‘Digital Family’?

This chapter introduces the concept of the digital family. Digital families are one form of distributed extended families, consisting of related individuals living in one or more households who utilize at least basic level information and communication technologies and social media applications to stay connected and maintain a sense of unity. The strengths and limitations of the notion are discussed, assessing its usefulness vis-a-vis neighbouring concepts. The chapter ends with the discussion of the perception of family in the three countries studied, Finland, Italy and Slovenia, and of the differences found between them.
Different regulatory models of transfer of industrial property rights in the Baltic States: A plea for harmonized approach

AbstractThe authors explore different models of transfer of industrial property on a comparative basis. The article demonstrates that these models differ on a country level and several models may be in use in one legal system. The authors analyze strengths and weaknesses and legal implications of these models in the three Baltic States both at the regulatory level and at the practical level through case studies. The authors conclude that would be preferable to use the model under which the register is vested with negative publicity and the transfer of ownership of industrial property is not made dependent on its recordation.
Instruction of Digital Reading Strategies Based on Eye-Movements Modeling Examples

During the last decade, several studies have proposed and tested different instructional methods for teaching digital reading strategies to young students. In this study, we have tested the effectiveness of a program combining eye-movements modeling examples (EMMEs) and contrasting cases to instruct ninth-grade students how to plan, evaluate, and monitor their digital reading. EMMEs are videos that display a dot representing the eye movements of a model and an oral transcription of her thoughts while answering a specific question in a hypertext. A very common conclusion of many experimental studies about IEEE 802.11 outdoor network deployments is that their poor performance results derive from the unfavorable interference and multi-path signals in which the WLAN-cards are required to operate. Goal of this paper is to show that this condition does not always hold, and unexpected and inaccurated PHY layer implementations can be a primary cause of packet losses. Rigal — a programming language for compiler writing

A new programming language for compiler writing is described. The main data structures are atoms, lists and trees. The control structures are based on advanced pattern matching. All phases of compilation, including parsing, optimization and code generation, can be programmed in this language in short and readable form. Sample compiler written in RIGAL is presented.
