The purpose of this article is to verify what communication roles the learner of Polish as a foreign language plays in improving listening skills (and in which communication systems). The author, referring to the concepts of Michel Rost and Denis McQuail, analyzes teaching tasks and correlated texts present in three selected coursebooks for A2 level. The research shows that the teaching tasks do little to prepare learners for authentic listening in natural communicative contexts: students play little differentiated roles in only two systems. Sustainability education at higher education institutions : pedagogies and students’ competences

Purpose This study aims to examine whether the development of students’ sustainability competences is dependent on how courses are delivered at higher education institutions (HEIs). It further investigates to what extent such competences can affect students’ belief in the new environmental paradigm (NEP) and pro-environmental behaviors (PEBs). P300 amplitudes in the Concealed Information Test are less affected by depth of processing than electrodermal responses

The Concealed Information Test (CIT) has been used in the laboratory as well as in field applications to detect concealed crime related memories. The presentation of crime relevant details to guilty suspects has been shown to elicit enhanced N200 and P300 amplitudes of the event-related brain potentials (ERPs) as well as greater skin conductance responses (SCRs) as compared to neutral test items. The land bridge between Europe and Sicily over the past 40 kyrs: Timing of emersion and implications for the migration of Homo sapiens

The submerged Sill in the Messina Strait, which is located at a depth of -81 m m.s.l., represents the only possibile connection between Calabria and Sicily during the last lowstand, when the sea level was at about -126 m m.s.l.
