Polystyrene-supported organocatalysts for alfa-selenenylation and Michael reactions. A common post-modification approach for catalytic differentiation

Three different resin-supported catalysts have been prepared by using the well established post-modification approach by means of thiol-ene coupling reaction. Two catalysts were tested for the first time in the asymmetric α-selenenylation of propanal, while the third catalyst was used in the Michael addition reaction. While the preliminary results are not encouraging in the case of supported Jørgensen’ catalyst, interesting data have been collected with both for the supported MacMillan and prolyl-prolinol catalysts. The Hexameric Resorcinarene Capsule as a Brønsted Acid Catalyst for the Synthesis of Bis(heteroaryl)methanes in a Nanoconfined Space

Herein, we show that the hexameric resorcinarene capsule C is able to catalyze the formation of bis(heteroaryl)methanes by reaction between pyrroles or indoles and carbonyl compounds (α-ketoesters or aldehydes) in excellent yields and selectivity. Our results suggest that the capsule can play a double catalytic role as a H-bond catalyst, for the initial activation of the carbonyl substrate, and as a Bronsted acid catalyst, for the dehydration of the intermediate alcohol.
Influencing the self‐sorting behavior of [2.2]paracyclophane based ligands by introducing isostructural binding motifs

Two isostructural ligands with either nitrile ( L nit ) or isonitrile ( L iso ) moieties directly connected to a [2.2]paracyclophane backbone with pseudo‐meta substitution pattern have been synthesized. The ligand itself ( L nit ) or its precursors ( L iso ) were resolved via HPLC on a chiral stationary phase and the absolute configuration of the isolated enantiomers was assigned by XRD analysis and/or by comparison of quantum‐chemical simulated and experimental ECD‐spectra. The aim of this paper is to present and elaborate relations between the understanding and main indicators of socio-economic welfare, including indicators of sustainable development, and the measurement methods of sustainable transport. The focus is on the role that transport basically plays for nearly all dimensions of living conditions and the quality of life. First, the defi nition of socio-economic welfare and different views on measuring welfare are presented. Then, the meaning of transport for improving socio-economic aspects of life, as well as the need for sustainable transport are underlined. Pro- gradu tutkielmassani haluan tuoda kielitieteen ”vaihdin”- käsitteen osaksi visuaalisen analyysin työkaluja. Keskityn tutkielmassani maalaustaiteeseen. ”Vaihdin” on kielitieteissä sana, jonka merkitys voi muuttua erilaiseksi, vaikka sen syntaksi pysyisi samana. Käsitteen lanseeraajaksi on nimetty tanskalainen kielitieteilijä Otto Jespersen, mutta se on esiintynyt myös venäläisen Roman Jakobsonin teksteissä. Maalaustaiteissa vaihdin on kuva-aihe tai objekti, jota jokin toinen taiteilija käyttää omassa tuotannossaan hyväkseen. Theoretical and Experimental Study of Polarization Modulation Instability in All-Normal Dispersion Photonic Crystal Fibers

Experimental observation of polarization modulation instability in all-normal dispersion photonic crystal fibers is reported. Stokes and anti-Stokes sidebands with spectral shift of 40 nm were observed when the fiber was pumped at 1064 nm. Experimental results are baked by a vectorial four-wave mixing model.
